I haven't bought any wheat grass for Gracie since I found out that she's diabetic. Early this morning I heard a cat regurgitating, and when I got up to check it was Gracie and there was a piece of my spider plant. I don't have many houseplants, only a few like the spider plant that are supposed to be non-toxic for cats. And Gracie must have wanted some greens badly enough to jump onto the counter and reach for the hanging plant. She's an indoor kitty so wheat grass was a treat for her. Is wheat grass safe for diabetic cats?

All cat grass (wheat, barley, rye) are ok for daibetics to have :thumbup So is catnip, fresh leaves from a live plant or dried leaves/buds.

Yes, it is safe. My Tigger loves to eat the wheat grass out of the garden. It does not effect his bg levels. But sometimes it will cause him to throw up some food along with maybe a hairball. Usually he will eat again right after though which is important so that he doesn't go too low because of the insulin and not having any food on board .

You will love looking at this link and the pictures. These aren't diabetic cats but I just thought I would share it with you:

Great news!
And 2 of our 3 cats enjoyed the catnip we grew last year so they'll get to have more this year . Thanks!

Do check if spider plant is poisonous to cats, please.

Those pictures are so cute. The orange kitty looks so much like our dear departed
Mr. Kitty.
