What to feed kittens

IMG_1133.JPG My fosters are doing well. One possibly too well as I think she's eating more than her share. I'll see what my vet says when he meets them Thursday. I've been feeding them Wellness kitten and they eat 2 1/2 or 3 3oz cans a day EACH! I decided to try Primal freeze dried which they like too. Both are VERY expensive. So I do mix in a little fancy feast kitten too. I'd like to feed a good food but not break the bank. I'm still recovering from the years of high expense seniors. It's been over 19 years since I've had kittens and back then I fed canned and dry. So I'm looking for food recommendations. They will likely be failed fosters but I can't commit until after they are spayed and Max gets his tribute which I can't seem to write yet. Any and all suggestions welcome on food. Thanks.

One of the local rescue groups here recommends the adult chicken and turkey Wellness for people who adopt kittens. Just use the tall cans for a more economical feed. The kitten formula is outrageous in price cause of the smaller cans, but the formula isn't much different than the adult version. The shelter I worked at also fed the adult Wellness.

I hear you on Max's tribute, I seem to be blocked too. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

No advice on kitten food from me, Elise. We always have so many cats that we usually end up feeding a combo of lower-priced foods (e.g., FF, Friskies) and homemade (EZComplete). I really just wanted to drop in and let you know I continue to keep you in my thoughts and prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

The kittens are adorable, by the way. :)

LOL, I agree. They could become permanent! I could never foster...we would have 30 cats! They are so cute.
 
Sorry that wasn't clear. I meant, if we did foster cats, I could never give them up. We only have 3 cats. Theresa wanted to foster 3 kittens...and actually we both know how that would have ended....we would have had 3 more permanent fur-kids :)
 
I'm not giving them up! It's just been hard admitting it as I miss Max so much. My vet met then Thursday and said to spay them in a month. Then I will adopt them. The rescue includes it in their fee and won't let them be adopted before. Since I also wasn't sure I was ready and didn't want them fixed at two pounds, I decided to foster.
 
Elise.... The lectures I have attended (Dr. Becker, Dr Bessent, Dr.Hanover....getting at that they are mainly holistic)
They all say if you are feeding a good quality canned to just feed a bit more. No need for kitten food just more calories if is a quality food.:bighug:
