What to do from here on out

Hi everyone! Sorry for no updates in the last two weeks, it's been hectic at home. Some updates.
  • Sima has tested positive for pancreatitis, which will be treated with a three-week course of vitamin B12 injections. He's already got the first one, so two more to go.
  • This week we're gonna take a look at his internal organs with an ultrasound. Nothing invasive, just to see if there's been any improvement for the better since the last time (end of August).
  • Right now, he's on a 4 unit dose of ProZinc. He's doing very well. Most days he's between 130-300 BG, mostly he stays around the 220-270 mark.
  • We did have two episodes nearing the hypoglycaemia, with no seizures or other complications. The first one was on the night when we upped his dose as per the veterinary instructions. His exact number was 59, so I gave him some high carb food to eat and a drop of honey with the food. Fifteen minutes later, he stabilized to 87. The second one was today, which was very unexpected as we haven't changed his dose and he ate quite well. His numbers dropped to 37, so we followed the same procedure as last time: high carb food and honey. One hour later, he was back to a safer number (72), and three hours later he was back to his usual numbers (201). We're not sure what caused this sudden drop; perhaps it's because of the pancreatitis.
Overall, he's a hungry and energized kitty. He's gained back some of his weight and energy back, which is not much for an older, calm cat, but we see the changes for the positive in him. Our new vet is very understanding and also encourages us to ask any questions, and congratulated us on learning so much on the matter and putting so much effort in his well-being. Also, I've already pricked myself enough times to understand my poor cat, but he just doesn't like when I have to test his glucose. He's a momma boy, after all :p (my mother is his bonded human).
