Take a look at the BG I got yesterday evening and you'll understand the "What gives?".

Before you reply with the suggestion to get numbers in between doses, understand that I am most often just not able to be around to do that, particularly during the day, when this is actually happening. Getting numbers in the evening will be easier in the near future.

It really sucks not knowing how she's doing while I'm at work, since she must be getting pretty low BG. Her behavior is always the same when I get home though. No hypo symptoms. She was only 4.12lbs when she was diagnosed, and I can tell she's gained a little weight, but she's still on the smaller side...so perhaps a decrease in dose will be warranted soon?

Thanks. And because I am anticipating comments on my spreadsheet, I've posted previously about my dosing adjustments (the 2 units, 1.5 units) and am aware these were definitely too high so I went back to my prescribed dose of 1 unit, which had seemed to be a decent amount in the beginning. Not looking that way now...

No, and if one pre shot number is too low to shoot, then it's recommended to lower the next dose again so you get 2 shootable numbers. That's really important. So I would advice you to go to 0.75 and see how that works. :)

Hey but you can also come over to the prozinc part of the forum if you need dosing advise!
We are a small group of prozinc users but we are around to help you whenever we can:bighug:
What is your name?

I agree. As Ruby said, you need to try to find a dose where you can shoot consistently both AM and PM. She's obviously bouncing from those low PMPS and/or no shots at night. With U40 syringes, you may need to go to 0.5u and try that unless you can eyeball 0.75u fairly consistently. There is an alternative for measuring quarter doses more accurately but you'd have to get different syringes and use a conversion chart which we can help you with.

That 50 is extremely low on your AT meter and warrants getting food into Serena immediately so she doesn't drop further. We don't want Serena going there again especially when that was so late in the cycle! Makes me wonder if she did go lower earlier. 68 is the warning number for more monitoring and intervention using your meter. Do you have the hypo instructions printed out and a hypo kit available just in case?

Yes the eyeballing (darn I forgot that that was really hard with the U40 syringes:banghead:) so yes if you can eyeball it, then go for it, if not then you can get the other U100 syringes but you will need the convertion chart, what is on the forum so we can lead you there. Or you can go to 0.50 but make it a 'fat' 0.50 so put the plundger above the line that says 0.50. That's the way I did it when I had to eyeball it.

Thanks Ruby, I'll check it out. My name is Danielle, and kitty's name is Serena (that name was taken, and I often call her Fluffy Face).

I think I could get pretty close to .75u, or at least make it a "fat" .50 as you said Ruby. I'll try that out. I do not have hypo instructions or a kit, since this is all pretty new...can't believe it's been less than 2 weeks...

Aww Serena aka Fluffy face:p well hi there Danielle! Oh that explains why I haven't seen you before, it's been less then 2 weeks.. Well let me tell you Danielle, you are managing this great! You don't seem (or just don't show it) that this is scary or overwhelming or anything to you. You are already picking this sugar dance up like a pro!
And you mentioned it's not really possible for you to get numbers during the day, well I didn't eather, I work fulltime but tested the preshot numbers and then after feeding and insulin went to work. When I came home I could test Baco again. It's not that big of a deal if you can test the evenings it's fine to get a clue of what she's doing.

Thanks Linda, I'll do that shortly!

Ruby, yep, that's my routine right now. Thanks for the encouragement! I guess I haven't freaked out because she's still been her usual self, but I know it's dangerous to have her in those low numbers. Can't attribute "ravenous hunger" to the levels 'cause she's such a pig despite her being so small!

Hahahahaha! So Fluffy (i'm still going to call her that because it's such a cute nickname) is also a little piggy! :p Well that's okay considering her weight I see. And well aren't almost all kitties little piggy's? Hihi:D
Hope to read more soon Danielle about your journey with Fluffy.
I'm going to sleep now, I live in The Netherlands so it's almost 11PM right now and I need some sleep after my long working day:woot:.
Have a nice day and we will talk soon!
