Maynard, my last Butchie baby, will be 19 on Jan 6th, hopefully nailbite_smile

He has been starting to exhibit signs of kidney issues. I don't want to feed him the Hills k/d, so what else would be good for him? It has been awhile since I had these issues. Right now, i am trying to give him WHATEVER he wants to eat because his appetite is not the best.

I do have a can of ad and some liquid Clinicare.

He had some teeth pulled in February and his blood results then were ok.(see below) Dr advised he was in pretty good shape for an 18 yr old, but I think things have gotten a bit worse. I checked him BG today and it was 91.

BUN 32 (16-36)
CREA 2.7 (0.8-2.4)
BUN/CREA 12
His T4 was ok as well, but I do not remember what it was now.

What can I feed him until i can get him in to the vets next week sometime for confirmation of what I think I already know???

THANKS

Friskies Special diet canned is both low carb and designed to reduce urinary tract issues. It may work for you.

Pop over to Cat Info and read what Dr Pierson has to say about feeding cats with renal disease. At least part of it is keeping the phosphorus level in the food low and her food list includes phosphorus levels.
