saw this on facebook - from Covered in Cat Hair post and thought it important to share:

WERUVA Super Luxe Pet Food. Though they do NOT have to list CARBOHYDRATES on their labels, they DID on their web site. No more doing bizarre MATH to figure it out. I'm THRILLED. Not only that but they have pulled grain, starch AND carrageenan (which MAY cause IBD) out of their food! I just gave one of our picky foster cats a snack of "Kitty Gone Wild" flavor and she LOVED it. So We-Ruv-You back, Weruva!

Now with this information, what is the real carb content. here is one example:

Chicken Frick 'A Zee

protein 12.54%
fat 4.80%
moisture 81.40%
ash 0.76%
carbs 0.50%
phosphorus 15%
magnesium 0.013%
potassium 0.167%
sodium 0.038%

any answers?

There was never any bizarre math involved   Once you got the as-feds, then add up the protein, fat, ash, moisture, and subtract from 100. That gives you the carbs. Then you plug that into Janet's calculator.

So, for the example you gave, if you didn't have the carbs, you would have added
protein 12.5
fat 4.8
ash 0.8
mois 81.4

That equals 99.5. Subtracted from 100 is 0.5 which exactly equals what they show.

So take the fat, protein, and carbs and plug it into Janet's calculator and you get:
% calories from protein = 52.6%
% calories from fat = 45.3%
% calories from carbs = 2.1%

Or, you could look it up on Dr. Lisa's Food Charts

You're welcome! I know I could have referenced Dr. Lisa's charts right off the bat but thought I'd also show how easy it is to calculate it.
