Has anyone used both the Wellness and EVO pates? Do you have a preference?

I like that EVO posts nutrition facts on its website but I don't like how high in fat they are. Although it's my guess that most grain-free canned foods are high in fat given they are always listed as "min" on the guaranteed analysis.

We're concerned about recent changes in Wellness food and finding black plastic/rubber pieces in the food after mixing it with filtered water.

An additional concern is that after switching to Wellness pate our cat started to drool. Long story short, he had 7 teeth removed including a majority on the bottom about 6 weeks ago (with xrays and follow up appt) but is still drooling. We've never been sure if it's been coincidence or not that the drooling started after switching food. Has anyone experienced this?

Thanks!

I have used both, I quit the Wellness due to the cost $3.29 in my area, we have 6 cats. They love the Evo, rarely do they vommit, which was a problem with the Wellness. I've been working to switch Goof over to all canned, the last time I tried, if I could get him to eat it, he'd vomit everytime. Since we switched to Evo, he hasn't vomited once and we're currently 3/4 wet to 1/4 dry. I order mine from Chewy.com, pricing is good and free shipping over $49.

I used the wellness chopped, and cats loved it, and BS were great on it. However, it's pretty expensive for me to feed 2 cats this as their only food. I looked at EVO foods, and saw that they are made by Natura foods. Natura makes a few brands, including innova, which I feed. The innova is less expensive than the EVO brand if you buy off chewy.

I have used both. EVO tended to cause diarrhea more and the cats won't eat it over the long haul, just once in a while. I suspected the high fat was the reason for the diarrhea. Actually, the main reason I will break out a can of EVO these days is when one of the cats seem to need a little loosening up in that department

Those "black plastic pieces", did you inspect them closely? I have not liked the change in Wellness 5.5oz cans lately either (I don't see the same change in the 3oz cans) and I've wondered if that change is the source of some of Sly's puking. But as to the black pieces, I have noticed that the chunks of veggies in the 5.5oz cans are larger in the Wellness lately, and there are chunks of bell pepper that are very dark green, dark gray, and black. Could what you have seen been peppers? I've switched back to mostly using 3oz cans even though it was finally cost effective to use the bigger cans because we have 2-3 cats eating Wellness at each meal now

I've only had teeth removed in one of my cats ever. He came to us needing teeth removed. We do feed a variety of wet foods.

You can improve the protein:fat:carb ratio by adding 1 ounce of plain meat or poultry to 5 ounces of cat food, mix well and portion out.
Per Cat Info.
