anyone tried Wellness Signature Selects? Kyndra is gone and Lita is not diabetic, but I still try to pay attention to what foods I give here. She is extremely fussy and I have thrown away a lot of half eaten cans :-/ She likes a few of these.

Also, I do give her a little dry food (about a spoonful) each day. I have recently moved in with a friend whose cat is quite overweight (mine is a small 7lb 13year old) and gets more dry than wet. We are trying to figure out a balance. If we must have a dry in the house, what are your suggestions?

thanks!

Evo Cat & Kitten dry is about 8% calories from carbohydrates.

Young Again 0 Carb is about 5% calories from carbohydrates(different calculations for carbs)
- internet order only.

I'm feeding Friskies pates (to 14 cats!) due to costs.

You could also try Stella & Chewy's freeze dried raw dinners. While they are intended to have water added, you can serve it dry and pretend it's kibble.

If there is going to be dry.... then I would definitely choose the Young Again
There are a couple of cats who have gone in remission eating it where they were still needing to be on insulin eating the Evo dry.
The young again seems expensive but they don't eat as much and a small bag can last 1 cat 4 -6 months.

or the freeze dried options. Here's a new one on the market .... fresh is best cat food

Fortunately there are new ones showing up.

Thanks for the input on the dried. I think the Evo is more in our budget to try. Sorry, no matter how good, I don't see anything special in the ingredients list/order on Young Again to warrant $49 for an 8oz bag - Yikes! Lita has been strictly on canned ever since Kyndra was Dx back in 2009 and has only been getting some dry lately b/c my vet and I decided she needed some weight. For her age & size she had lost about 7 oz (a lot for a 6 lb 10 oz kitty). She is back up and more energetic, but with the new living arrangement and two TOTALLY different cat/owner/feeding situations we are trying to strike a balance. Fortunately, Lita is not an over eater but we need to find what works for both. Pinni's brother, (my friend's cat) was lost to acromegaly (and complicated by diabetes) last December so getting her slimmed down is important but so are our budgets :-/

But still not input on the new Wellness Selects? I have not seen it on any of the charts yet, either. Maybe still too new, it does have brown rice, so not grain free but for Lita, is ok. I see the Tiki is well-liked here and their food looks good, lot's of fish though :-/

Even though no diabetes (and hope never again) I always come here for resource, so again, thanks.

To put on weight, try a kitten food, that is low carb. They are designed to aid growth and development, so are slightly higher calorie, protein, and fat.
