My cats seem to have a problem with their Wellness Turkey lately. Not sure if it is the food or the hot temperatures we have had lately. Has Wellness changed its formula?

Also, my sugarcat has had diarrhea for the last two days and hasn't felt like eating. We went to the vet and she thinks it is just a stomach issue. Blood tests were fine. His glucose was 184 but he was really stressed at the vet. His numbers are usually around 40. He has been OTJ for a good while now since we are controlling with diet with Wellness Turkey only. Since he needed some fluids, I gave him a packet of Wellness Turkey and Duck with gravy. He lapped up the gravy and ate a few of the solid pieces. Is it okay to give him this packet food for a couple of days? I don't want him to have a relapse. Thanks for your help.

I have had issues with quality control on Wellness. They do change the mixes based on what is cost effective for them; one manufacturing plant's product made my cats sick with diarrhea.

Check the stamped codes from the cans you purchase and don't purchase that lot any more. If you can, test a different lot to see if it, too, produces diarrhea. Also call to complain to the company.

Thanks! I have almost two cases from that particular lot. I will try some food from another lot. That is a good idea.
In the past, I noticed that the 5.5 oz cans that I use most of the time are sometimes a lot darker and more watery than the 3 oz cans. I wonder if they are made at different locations. Seems like the smaller cans use more white meat or fewer additions like the carrots.

It may be a different plant. By tracking the stamped codes, you may be able to Id plants you want to avoid.

BTW - I also got a gift certificate for calling in the quality control problem.

Our cats just recently rejected a whole batch of Turkey. They were eating both chicken and turkey and all of a sudden neither one of them wanted the turkey. So we gave them chicken only for about a month. Now, the batch of chicken we have is being rejected as well. It too is noticeably more watery; not thick like the others have been. Our cats really like the thick non-watery cans, and wellness food was one of the only foods they liked so will try to stick with it, but I will probably call to complain too. I hope your kitty feels better soon.

Thanks for the information. With all four of my cats not looking too thrilled with the Turkey, I began to wonder about it. They nibble a little but definitely do not eat the quantity they used to eat. Lately I throw away more than they eat and they only have a total of two 5.5 oz cans for the four of them. But who knows with cats!

My cats also have rejected the Wellness Turkey but are okay with the Chicken. They loved the Turkey for years but all of a sudden neither would eat it. Suspicious...
