Baby's feeling well enough to get into trouble again!! Bad news is, that means she's jumping over the gate I put up to keep her from going downstairs and eating my room mate's kitty's dry food. Any ideas? I have a very small space for Baby and I, and she seems to find any place my room mate puts the dry food downstairs. if i shut her in a room, it's just too small a space.

Yay for feeling better! I'm sorry I don't know any of your back story... is there any way to change the other kitty over to a wet diet, too? It really is the best, most natural diet for any cat. Or maybe instead of free-feeding kibbles to the other cat, would that cat allow several small meals in a closed off area? That way they'd only need to be seperated at meal time. My civie was very resistant to switching to wet, but her and Charlie live in seperate areas of the house- so I was just switching her for her health, not for Charlie. I have now succeeded, but it was only because her teeth are so bad she can't crunch kibbles easily anymore  But Dr. Lisa has ideas on switching cats to wet food on her website http://catinfo.org/docs/Tips for Transitioning PDF 1-14-11.pdf

Great that she is feeling better. Not so good that she is finding the other kitty's kitty crack. Perhaps 2 baby gates one over the other one? We had to do that with our grandson who climbs like a monkey since we have a very narrow and steep staircase to the basement. On my foster/new kid room we have installed an old screen door so they can see and smell each other but not get at each other.

Hi Sarah!
If I remember your previous post right, the problem is getting the roommates to go along with the "no more dry food! Ever!" diet plan? I'm hoping you'll be able to educate them about the dangers of dry food with Baby, and at the same time convince them that dry food is no good for their kitty either. That would solve the great escape problems, and be easier and cheaper for everyone in the long run.
"Friends don't let friends feed dry" could be your slogan.
So glad to hear that Baby is feeling better,
Carl

lol well my room mate put a table up at the bottom of the stairs that is too tall for her to jump over and she can't get around it. he's going to build a half-door sometime next week for it. He's a pretty nifty roomie! Baby is definitely looking much much better. her coat is much softer and more shiny and she's not shedding anymore and has no dandruff now. yay!! Her average sugars are slowly going down too

Sarah,
Looked at your SS. Glad to see that you've stuck with the same dose for several days in a row. What would be really helpful for you, I think (and would really help anyone else looking at it) is if you could somehow manage to get in a few "in between doses" tests. If nothing else, the +6 so you could see what she's getting around nadir. (I know schedules and real life are hard to make work together!) That'd give you a much better idea if she's dropping enough on that dose, or if she's maybe just "flat" all day, which would give you an idea if (or how) to adjust the dose. The yellows are much nicer than the purples!

How's she doing? More active, jumping and smooth shiny coat are all encouraging signs.

Carl
