My girl continues to lose weight. Vet said until we get her insulin figured out with numbers more consistent she won't gain weight. Anybody have success? She weighs less than 7lbs she can't afford to lose anymore. She was at 9.4

Guess you haven’t started our spreadsheet yet. ;) Cats require more calories until regulated so you need to feed more. What’s her ideal weight? How’s her appetite?

Hi her ideal Wait would be back at that nine and a half pounds. She will eat almost as much as I let her right now I do not have a way to free feed her as I have another cat that doesn't need the extra calories. When I get to a computer I'll try to get your spreadsheet going.

My cat gets fed three times a day now I'm not home during the day consistently to be able to feed her more often unfortunately. I was looking more for something that would be high calorie to add what she already gets to help with weight gain.

As my signature says I am still figuring out her diet. I am trying to learn more about homemade diets so I can work with diabeties and allergies. I can't spend $500 for allergy testing though when I just spent i don't even know how much with the diabeties testing and supplies etc.

One suggestion is to get a timed feeder. Some models have room for an ice pack so you can keep food fresh. With a feeder you can have food available when you're not home.

Take a look at Dr. Lisa's food chart. It lists the calories as well as the carbs.

timed feeder doesn't help HER get it instead of him. Even the microchip colors won't help as they will stand side by side and eat each others food. In an apartment I don't have a way to lock them up separately except the bathroom and don't want to lock up one cat in the bathroom all day long term :(

My cats are the same. With my last two I had to stay with each separately while they ate different foods each time. With my current two I can’t turn my back for a second whenever my allergy kitty gets different food than her sister. I get it.

Any chance the piggy cat is bigger than the small cat? We've had members do either collars with chip code that operate cat flaps, or just a feeding space/box of some kind with a door that only the skinny cat cat fit through. I wouldn't lock at cat in the bathroom all day, just for the time for her to get an extra meal. I was lucky at one point that the allergy kitty could jump up higher than the fatty. So I fed her on the counter.

If you are looking at novel proteins to feed for allergies, both duck and lamb are high calories, than something like rabbit, kangaroo, venison. Chicken thighs are higher fat than chicken breast if she can eat chicken and you are making your own. I didn't spent time on allergy tests either, just tried one protein at a while until I figured out which she could/could not eat.

What I'm trying to say is in order to get an extra meal during the day I'd have to lock her in the bathroom all day which I'm not willing to do. I do feed my non-diabetic cat up high on his cat tree is that's his sacred place so Suzy my diabetic cat wouldn't dare go up there. Suzy won't go into a small space to eat away from Ziggy. Ziggy likes to trap her.
