Hello from Socrates, my diabetic boy! Along with his other symptoms, he also lost weight even though he is on lantus...I will increase his dose a little bit because 1 unit is not enough. Will he ever gain weight again? He has always been a fat and tall cat and i feel sorry for him...

Once Socrates becomes regulated, he should start gaining weight back. Are you home testing his blood sugars? Also, what are you feeding him and how much?

Yes, I home test twice a day.He is on Purina DM wet food 1,5 can per day according to his weight.

Once you finish up the dm, you can switch to a grocery store food. Most people are feeding fancy feast classic or Friskies pate foods. I feed weruva foods. Good that you are home testing. Don't forget to get a mid cycle or before bed test to give you data on how low he goes.
Esp since he's under weight, feed him as much as he wants!

When kitties are unregulated, their bodies don't process the food as well. So going by the weight on the can won't work. If he's still losing weight, feed more than what the can says. And as Janet said, you don't need to feed DM, there are lots better quality low carb options commercially available for less.
