hi there,
quick question, can anyone point me in the way of more information regarding weighty gain and loss for diabetic cats?
fluffy has been in consistent low BG numbers and I am testing with skipping or even a drop dose because a 0.1 unit (yes a tenth of a unit) at times seems go be too much for her.
but I have noticed that for the past few months her appetite has declined a bit and so her weight.
her weight was 12 pnds back in February and now is 10.6. at 12 pounds the vet told me she was overweight and the vet wanted her at 10 pnds. we are heading that way but I am not doing anything different than feeding her fancy feast, close to 2 -3 ounce cans a day.
how is weight loss and gain tent to progress and affect diabetic cats?
any info would be awesome.
Thank you!

With high BGs a cat needs more calories to maintain weight. As BGs get lower less calories are required.
two, 3 oz cans a days is the rule of thumb for a general 8-9 lb cats. However, ech cat is different and some cats require more and some less to maintain weight and as the desired weight gos up more calories is required to maintain weight.
Just increase the amount of food to over two cans 3 oz cans a day and monitor weight.
