We saved Kitty but lost Blue.

Kitty is still doing great. All green.

However its been a week and a day since Blue went out at 6:30 AM and never came back.
We are hoping that since she was born a feral that she is just ranging out and will still return.
I spent a long time hiking the woods and checking around the property and saw no sign of an attack. No blood or fur.
The neighbor said he saw her around 2PM that same day.
The only thing I noticed is that she was starting to act a little funny and stay away longer the past few days before she disappeared.
If she had not been fixed it was time for her to come into heat.
Of course it was the same vet that was treating Kitty originally. So who knows.

The worst part is not knowing what happened. We keep expecting her to come flying through the kitty door.

The bright side is that we saved her and she helped saved kitty. Perhaps that's what she came to us for.

Don't give up on Blue...

I was outa town several years ago, and Elsie (who's feet had barely touched grass) got out. She was gone for a week... but managed to find her way home, across a street and back into the crawlspace & between floor joists downstairs where she had slipped out. Contractors working across the street said they saw kitty footprints on the floor.

One of my current cats, Moochie Pooch, snuck outside with the dogs a few months ago. Petsitters were totally freaked out, but he, too, had been a feral and had hung out under the house next door and in my garage. When I got home, I saw him next door, went to the front and called him, sat on the porch, and he came right up to me... ready to go inside. I guess he just had to sow some of his remaining oats. It's much less stressful when you come home - and don't have to sleep with one eye open.

Give him some time... maybe Blue will find the way home too. Good luck!

I hope Blue will come home.
If she had been feral and used to being outside, hopefully she will come back.
We had a kitty that disappeared for 8 months that came back, she was fixed and lived outside in the barn. Never knew where she was all that time.
Don't give up on her, its only been a little while, I will keep her in my thoughts and prayers.
I agree, the worst is not knowing what happened.

Please don't give up that she will come home. She knows where the love & food is. She will come back.

I will say a prayer tonight for Blue to return home safely. bcatrun_gif

Please keep us updated.

Keeping fingers and paws crossed Blue finds her way home. It's really tough not knowing.

Had a kitty "escape" once. Had just moved back to the KC area so everything was brand spanking new to her when she got out. I searched and fretted for months. About a year later, my mom saw her. She had adopted a family a few blocks away and was purrfectly content. It was tough to bite my tongue and not reclaim her, but I left her and her new family alone as her new family had kids she seemed to adore and she was healthy. It was nice to know she was doing well.

Thanks guys.
We have had a lot other people tell us stories of their traveling kitties.
We rescued her outside the local Moose about 6 months ago. She was always free to come and go.
It was odd when we left the Moose this past Sunday. There was another cat much older but very similar to Blue outside waiting for us. It was very strange.
Any pets I have had have always been free range. Its risky. However they always seem healthier and happier.

As the guy in the commercial always said. We'll keep a light on for her.

Hope Blue comes back soon. I am sure it’s worrysome but the outdoor kitties have a mind of their own. Sending Prayers Blue gets back to you asap!

I had one cat that took a vacation from us twice a year. First time the weather turned nice in the spring and the last time it turned nice in the fall- she would go away for a few days...

One year the first good day (and bye-bye Ella) was followed up by a 2 day snow/ice-storm- and us Arkansans don't get out in the snow if we can help it. Everything was shut down for a week until the ice melted off the roads and the snow started to melt. I remember I spent that whole week on my knees putting insulation in moms attic... itchy and achy.

Last Saturday one of my neighbors showed up and said thier Rat Terrier has gone missing as well.
Also no sign of the orange cat that would periodically show up as well.
Monday will be three weeks.

Maybe someone is taking pets in your area? or another animal? I'm sorry.

I'm sure if Blue could find her way home, should would just to be home with you. I've seen my former ferals go [sneak] out and return to their feral behavior "I don't need ANYone!"... at least until they get hungry. Still hoping she'll make her way back to you - hopefully she's holed up in a nice toasty place w/ someone sharing their kibble until the weather warms up. Good luck!

I'm so sorry, Sev. Three weeks sure seems like a long time...and with other animals missing....

But...I'm still hopeful Blue will make his way back home after he finishes sowing his wild oats. :-D (Glass half full kinda thing. Or incredibly naive. Or eternal optimist. Or something like that.)

:YMHUG:

And how is Kitty? Was just thinking about her this morning, missing the daily dose of green!

I am so sorry to hear Blue hasnt made it back home yet. I had asked you about Blue on the other thread.

I really was hoping to read this one with news Blue had returned.

Well we really are not sure if she got eating by a coyote or great horned owl or has just taken off.
I know where she would go when she went out. It was always under cover. The yard is fenced with horse fence that she could run through and a coyote could not.

Its amazing how attached you get to an animal over a short period of time. We really miss her antics around the house.
Poor Kitty was acting depressed for a few days after Blue disappeared. He seems ok know and is back to his normal routine.

Still nothing.
We are not letting kitty go outside after dark anymore just in case.

Sorry to hear that Sev. I've had two disappear over the years, and the hard part is the "just not knowing." Have there been any other reports of missing pets since your last update?

Not that we know of. We are trying to catch up with our neighbor and see if her dog returned.
I have been seeing cats all over the place along our road.
Its dam strange.

Update on the neighbors dog.

The dog returned. Thats a positive.
Perhaps there isnt a cat snatcher in the after all.

Still thinking about you. Glad the neighbors' dog returned... maybe Blue will sew all the wild oats and return soon.

We may have had a blue spotting today.
Brenda spotted a cat with a big fluffy tail cutting across a small field about a 1/4 mile from our house.

OMG!!! Really? I was starting to think maybe a owl did get her.
Hope is still there which is a really good thing. Are you leaving food out just in case?

I hope she returns. bcatrun_gif

Hopefully you'll have more sightings and eventually her return! This is great news. Can't believe she stayed out so long... but you know she's missing her lovin!.

Won't you be thrilled to walk in the room and have her sitting there with a look that says, "What? I've been right next door all this time, but I prefer the food here!" Something about sleeping without having to keep one eye open... Hope she makes her way back inside really soon!

We are still hoping.

It would be nice to come home and see her sitting on the couch.

With the weird early spring, she may just be busy catching all the mice and moles. Hope she comes home soon, though. Doesn't she know canned food is easier to catch?

Guess not.
Just saw a garden snake today. Just ate a mouse by the looks of the bulge is had.

Seems Kitty has caught a cold.

We keep hoping.
Just wish I went with my instinct to block the door that morning. When ever I ignore my intuition nothing good ever happens.

Every time I see you have updated this post. I hope you are posting she is back.
Darn it though she isn't! I thought the sighting was promising. There is still a possibility.
I am still holding out hope.
BLUE GET HOME! bcatrun_gif

Just wanted to update.

Last night the orange tabby I thought disappeared around the same time as Blue showed up on our deck. A very healthy cat.

So perhaps Blue is still out there.
Perhaps a victim of a catnapping because of her good looks.

Hope everybody has been well.

Hi Sev -

That's very good news. Still hard, not knowing, but it gives you something to hang on to. :YMHUG:

Thanks guys.

Have not seen the tabby since.
Must be making the rounds. He is very well fed.

Our kitty door is still open for Blue. It would be nice if she was in the house one day when we came home.
