Spot was very sick the last few days and besides having diabetes and hyperthyroidism, we found out his heart was failing. He was very weak and seemed in pain late last night so we took him to the emergency center at 3:00 AM where we found out he had heart failure and that he was in very bad shape. My husband and I decided to put him to sleep and stayed with him and said our goodbyes. He was a funny cat, sometimes bratty, most times lovable. He had beautiful green eyes and was a scrappy NYC boy when I adopted him. I used to get his cat food there (NYC) at a store called Spoiled Brats, which just suited him fine. He snuggled with us on the couch when we watched TV but didn't like to be picked up. (He always let you know what he did and did not like.) He loved to come into the bathroom with me and just walk around in there, and when he was healthy, would roll around in the tub and meow with glee (I wanted to film it but never could figure that out). He often gave me back talk when I tried to tell him what to do. He fought with and played with our other kitty, DeeDee, who enjoyed licking his head (and that he would allow) and enjoyed life in Miami, lounging on our patio, his face in the sun, and catching the occasional lizard. I will miss my buddy Spot so much. I appreciate all the advice I've gotten here--it wasn't that long ago when diabetes seemed like such a big problem, but you guys all helped me though it.
I hope he's flying free somewhere. I hope he's got his face toward the sun, soaking it in.
