Waiting to see a Vet

Thanks for the support tonight. She is grooming in her carrier.

Still waiting---

Maybe they will just let us sit in the waiting room for 4 hours! Then if we need them we are here-- wish I had brought my meter.

Kim, ask for Buprenex for pain - injectable (if she's good with shots) or oral (you squirt it in the cheek pouch of her mouth) if she's good with taking oral meds. That's a must. Severe pain can cause nausea and vomiting, ask Harley how I know.

If they let you have some, also ask for Anzemet (dolasatron) injectible, or Cerenia injectible. I think Cerenia also comes in pills. Both work wonders for vomiting kitties. But Cerenia is supposed to only be given for 5 days because it builds up in the body.

Zofram (ondansetron) is a milder anti-emetic and I don't know that an ER would have any. It comes in pills. Besides, this situation calls for the big guns.

Scritches to Kitty!

So since she's grooming I'm assuming she's stopped throwing up? Wish I was close enough to be there!

She is grooming and wanting to sleep!

I will tell them about the DKA.

Thanks for checking on us!

That's the way it always goes...get them to the vet & they start acting better. Poor Kitty...there's probably nothing left to throw up. I still think you're in the best place for now.

Grooming.... well at least that is a good sign she is feeling semi-ok hopefully! Just like taking the car to the shop I guess, Cool Kitty wants to show off for the vet that she is all perfect ... and pretty too! :-D I'd definitely try to go home with an armload of pain meds and anti-nausea stuff. Heck, I could use those myself a lot of days! And hopefully some different A/Bs maybe. I forget which ones she is on, but some cause nausea more than others, and generally ones that are fine if you take with some food can wreak havoc on an empty stomach. I can never remember which ones though....

Hehe, you could start teaching people in the lobby how to home test, wonder if that would get you in to see the vet sooner? ;-) OK, a little cynical there... sorry!

And of course hoping there is nothing more serious going on with her nailbite_smile Surgery recovery can be rough, but hopefully she is feeling much better soon.

Well, now that I know you are safely at the vet I'm gonna go get some sleep...6:00 am comes awful early! I will be looking for an update in the morning. Take care Kim & Kitty! :YMHUG:

Smart or Scared?!

Thanks for stopping by tonight! I appreciate your support.

How is Harley doing

The vet said they would check her again in 3 hours.

3 hours--- are you kidding me

I told her to test every 30 mins until she was going back up.

3 hours? LOL, you could have done that at home!

Any chance they could leave the meter and strips with you so you could do the testing?

My boy is still hanging in there, thanks for asking. We go for an echocardiogram on Wednesday. In addition to his other problems he has a gallop heart rhythm, can't play, and doesn't tolerate heat at all. :YMSIGH:

She probably would be safer at home--- can you believe they wanted to test her in 3 hours?

It is the best thing, of course but I am sorry. It is just a set back and she will pick up and do even better. She has been amazing with all her problems lately, especially the dental, yuk! Plus the d_ _n DKA! I will light a candle tonight with prayers from Payne and me. It will be okay Kim, really. Nancy

How kind of you Nancy.

Assuming everything goes Okay-- I have no idea what her dose should be. I have not seen a green number since the first curve. This big drop can't totally be related to the food. I am wondering if there is some sort of breakthrough happening also.

I have no idea....

My Mother would be proud! isn't it the middle of the night where you are? When my Mom was nervous she would clean .... I know you are cleaning up after Kitty but you need your sleep. I find the candle soothing, it reminds me of my Grandmother, who swore she would convert me but only the pomp and pageantry stuck :) This is bringing up memories .... I think I'll go clean!
Good-night Kim.

I know it is too early to know anything just yet,
but I am sure that she is doiing well and she is where she should be right now
I am sure you are sleeping right now..
I will check in later, keep us posted
and hang in there!
