Hi Kitty Committee. Hope everyone is well and their humans too!
We haven’t been on in awhile. It’s been a bit of a wide ride the past year or so. We had to put down Ozzy’s figgie brother cat Figgie last December before Christmas and we are missing him a lot. Ozzy has adjusted being an only cat but is still not fond of our now 3 year old toddler. It’s a work in progress.
I’m back on here to see if you can offer any feedback on some recent developments with Ozzy. About 3 months ago a round cyst like structure grew on his back. It was clear skin colored. He had been chewing on it and eventually took the top of the skin off of it and wouldn’t leave it alone. It looked like a big crater in his skin. Took him to the vet and they gave him an antibiotic shot and did a senior blood panel. His diabetes is perfectly managed and all body systems and blood work looked perfect except some protein in urine. They sent him home w a cone and an antiseptic foam to administer every 3 days for next 2-3 weeks.
It has now been a month and the crater wound is healing somewhat but it just doesn’t look like what I would think a wound looks like after a month of healing. It weeped for weeks and bled for a long time when cleaned with warm water. All that has finally stopped so think we are on right path forward. I know diabetics can take a long time for wound healing. Does anyone have concerns with the way this looks after a month?
also other issue is he had brown/red eye discharge. dr said it could be from allergies. We gave him some more flea meds (we don’t always give it year round as he is a completely in door kitty but will start to from now on). It’s also been a month since we started the flea treatment and already have another dose and he is still having the eye discharge. He has never really had this before. It runs down his face and seems like a lot. He also had pink around the lining of his eyes. Any thoughts? What things are cats allergic to besides fleas? He had also been allergic to certain proteins (all poultry) that made him vomit chronically but we switched his protein awhile back and that had improved a lot.
Just would like to get my sweet Ozzy some relief and out of his cone of shame.
