Odie's been feeling not so well for the last couple of weeks, but it got significantly worse over the weekend. His BG numbers are up, he's not wanting to eat, he's lethargic and seemed to be in pain. I figured we were having an IBD or pancreatitis flare-up.

I just brought him to his internal medicine specialist. She did an ultrasound and said his GI track looks ok, pancreas a bit of an issue, but no worse than usual. However, the pain is in his back end. Don't know what it is at the moment. She has to sedate him to do a rectal exam and some x-rays. They'd doing a regular round of blood work too.

I hate leaving him there, and I hate having him sedated because he has strange reactions to sedation... but he's obviously in pain, so we have to figure out what's wrong.

My poor baby. Now the waiting-game until that phone call comes.

Oh poor Odie and mom. Sending healing and calming vibes for you both from one orinch boy and mom to another orinch boy and mom.

We'll be thinking of you.

Oh, the waiting is the worst part! I'm so sorry Odie isn't feeling well. I hope the call comes soon and it's something simple and easily treatable.

The vet assistant just called, saying to come get Odie at 4:30 (75 minutes from now) and that the vet would meet with me then.

Now I'm scared. Why didn't they just give me results? What is wrong with him?
Maybe she's just busy with other procedures.

This is going to be one LOOOONG 75 minutes. My heart is in my throat.

Back from the vet's.

Good news is that it doesn't seem to be anything major. Bad news is, we have no idea what's causing him pain.
Everything looks okay on the xrays and exams, but he's definitely sore when you touch the base of his tail. Assuming it's some kind of soft tissue damage at this point. So we're home with Buprenorphine.

He's alert and seems happier than he's been in a while, he's still has some left over pain killers from this afternoon. He's currently eating and looking around. His walking a bit funny, but I supposed that's to be expected with having had people poking at his sore butt all day.

This is so much better than I was expecting though.

I am glad Odie's home and has pain meds. Hopefully, the tenderness will clear soon.
Did the vet mention anything to watch or if Odie should come back for another visit later?
