? Vomiting question 7/20 Mr Kitty OTJ Trial Day 9 AMBG 59, PMBG 88

Mr. Kitty's story is just amazing to me. Yes, you have had some really bad news but just look at how he is doing on the OTJ trial! He was on such a high dose and then, overnight, no longer needed the insulin. It just amazes me but most of all I am so happy to hear that he is doing well. You may get your miracle after all, Melissa.

He's throwing up a fair amount, threw up twice earlier today, then at bedtime, and again just now. It was the food+meds combo I syringed about 3 hours ago and not even close to being digested, looked pretty much like it did when I gave it. Is that normal? I'm just used to when babies spit up, it's usually pretty well digested pretty quickly. I'm guessing he's still a bit constipated which is why I'm still giving miralax.

What's best Cerenia/ondansetron combo/scheduling? I've been giving 4mg ondansetron AM and PM just in case (as fluids builds up he gets nauseous), and he's been fine.

He sure is giving me a run for my money! It is nice not having to give the insulin and do BG checks, I'd be going half crazy with that added back in.

If Ruby was having a rough time with bad appy and vomiting, I gave 4 mg ondansetron every 6 hours at 8 AM, 2 PM and at 8 PM with Cerenia. That seemed to work really well. What dose of Cerenia did your vet give you? Ruby is on 12 mgs and she weighed 5 kgs at the time I was giving it regularly.

Thanks! His appetite has been ok, which is why I haven't added in another ondansetron dose yet. Vet recommended 8mg of Cerenia when he first prescribed it, but did give me the ok to go up to 16mg if he really needed it, but he weighed 5kg back then. He's about 4.25kg now. The pills themselves are 16mg.

I might start with 8mg in the morning and see how he does.

Yeah, Ruby's IM gave 24 mg Cerenia pills that I break in half. It is much better for vomiting than ondansetron, so I would up the dose of the Cerenia before adding ondansetron if he's eating well.
