Thanks Rachel.
we'll miss you Bobbie - don't forget us Now it's just me :( after Sharon and now you leaving I don't blame you
curious - what is the difference between Levemir and Lantus? I read somewhere that Levemir's pH was more compatible with feline something but it seems like most go with Lantus

Thanks Lynn and right back to you. Maybe Rupert got into some pumpkin pie. :cat: I am going to start Bubba on Lantus hopefully tomorrow evening after I talk to the vet. No progress on ProZinc and after two day on 3 units he steadily went up. His lowest numbers last night were the Pre shoots and he was the highest during the onset. Doesn't make sense. It's scary to try a different insulin and wishing that @Sue and Oliver (GA) and @Rachel and @Merlin would move to the L and L with me........ and Carol. Let's start a new forum called " Formerly Prozinc" Lower numbers for everyone. :bighug:
And of course @Robin&BB too!!

From what Sharon told me, the Levemir doesn't sting in higher doses like Lantus does. Lantus is more acidic.

Murphy is eating exclusively YA now - his stools are soft and smelly - not sure if result of IBD or YA (he had this when I first switched him to YA- it resolved quickly) I guess this will be good test of YA and if it affects Blood Glucose or not - so far his sugars have been what I would have seen on wet food I plan to re-introduce the venison again in a day or two but slowly probably in mid day because he had most trouble when he ate it on an empty stomach (at pmps and amps) How about Colin, Sharon? I see you are going to increase again.
The soft serve stools could be because you are feeding exclusively YA, it should resolve soon.

@Sharon14 I just got some slippery elm and am going to try giving it to Murphy tonight - I got powder and the capsules - I could give him one of the capsules (right dose) but I don't know if that is the best way to do it (absorbing water and all) I'm making the syrup and will try that (will try some myself as well)

I don't think it's that - I think he is nauseated - I gave him an appetite stimulant today and will ask vet for Rx for cerenia tomorrow - I think it's IBD flaring up again - but you are right about the loose stools - could be YA I am going to go through Bobbie and Bubba withdrawal on Prozinc

Nah, we will all still chat!

Let me know how it works.

Thanks Carol - that makes sense. One more question. Is this the right food for Evo low carb (it states that it is 8%)? http://www.chewy.com/cat/evo-turkey-chicken-cat-kitten/dp/32562
Yes Cindi that is it - I guess there has been some recent reformulation and it has some carbs now but supposedly something about fiber, yada, yada - and carbs now 8%. I am not sure - I tried Murphy on it early on and it didn't make a difference in his sugars - hence the YA but I may go back and try again now that he is farther into the insulin - there's another food called Wysong Epigen 90 that is also supposed to be good - I will look into that as well Murphy has been somewhat unstable the past few days, but I believe if I keep him on just YA, I'll have to lower his insulin dose and re-adjust the SS. but he's still in IBD mode so I'm taking things one day at a time

Hi, Carol (& all) - So sorry to see that Murphy's having an IBD flare --- sending many healing vibes your way!
And Bobbie - I have my fingers & toes crossed for you & Bubba, too - for success with the switch to Lantus.
I apologize for being MIA; there's so much going on here at present that I can barely keep on top of Bat-Bat.
Hopefully things will be less chaotic soon. I miss you all!:bighug:

Thanks Robin and Sue. I will be talking to the vet tomorrow. Maybe by tomorrow night I can start. I am nervous but, got to try this. @Robin&BB , hope things calm down for you :bighug: @Carol & Murphy, once again we all hang at our house. :cat:

One thing I would definitely do, Bobbie, is to print off the protocols and lots of the other info on the stickies, so you can refer to them whenever you need to. It really is a completely different mind set and takes a different kind of thinking.

I did gather them on a doc and need to print. Not sure which I will follow, leaning towards SLGS protocol. Any advice?

I am also doing the SLGS for now, figure it would give me time to understand everything and see how Rupert does. I hope to switch to TR in the future. Which ever method you choose, Bobbie, wishing you the best of luck! :bighug:

Me too - will keep close watch and fingers crossed - who knows- I may be there at some point although the 12 hour dosing with no wiggle room just wouldn't work for me I like the flexibility of prozinc (for now)

I know the lack of flexibility scares me but one of the stickies I read said that peeps do modify for when life gets in the way.
