Vomiting/Coughing?

Hi, I am writing here to see if anybody has experienced this with their kitty or have any ideas? Last night Sadi started to make a coughing / choking sound - like she needs to vomit and she tries but only saliva comes out. She is showing interest in food but can only take a bite or two then it starts again. It is sporadic and she did eat breakfast this morning. I know not to let her go without eating, but nervous about this coughing / choking / trying to vomit unsucessfullly. She will be 13 tomorrow and her ouput, attentiveness, and activity appear normal.

Sounds like it could possibly be a hairball, especially if she's not throwing up any food. You might try some cat grass and/or a little bit of coconut oil to help things along if it is a hairball.
