Wonton has been OTJ for 2 yrs. She's been constipated so bad. The crazy the vet took said she was backed up really bad. They gave her an enigma and new food to keep her bowels moving. Seems this new food has spiked her level. I promptly removed that food and continue to give her fancy feast low carb but she keeps throwing up. Will her levels come down after awhile so she can keep her food down? I hope she won't have to go back on insulin. Any suggestions for bad constipation? Thanks for listening...

I didn't mean the crazy vet...I'm trying to type on my kindle. I tried to type that the xray the vet had taken showed Wonton was backed up pretty badly. Just wanted to fix that typo...

She ate a small amount so it was definitely vomiting. My poor baby. She ate Little more so will see if it stays down. ...

She may need another enema. Blockages can tear the colon if there's too much, too hard, with too much pushing.

To prevent it from happening again, you might use a small dose of Miralax. Do discuss this with your vet.

She drank but threw it up. I think it's because of the high reading. Was wondering if her levels might come down when not getting food in her? I don't have any lantus to give her now. I don't know how to check ketones. Isn't it from her urine stream?

Maybe, how much did she drink?

Yes you can get strips from any pharmacy but I would call the vet again. It sounds like she is very unwell.

With that new dry food the vet recommended she's been a pooping machine..huge and long ones..sorry. I have stopped that dry food as it elevated her number to 256. So it doesn't seem like she's backed up.

Ketone test strips may be purchased at the pharmacy.
They are used to test fresh urine.

Also, 2 of the 3 ketones the body produces have a distinctive smell - fruity and/or like nail polish remover. Smell her breath. If you smell that, go to the vet asap.
