Vivaldi: 3 reductions in one week.

Vivaldi was diagnosed on Nov 2017. We have been on TR for 10 months now. There have been times when control seems at hand only to lose it every time. I suppose chances of remission are getting lower as time passes. Any personal experiences to share? Thanks.

Remission is possible even after years! Don't lose hope! Check out some of the Lantus/Levemir 'OTJ' celebration posts to see lots of remission stories from short timers to looooooong timers!

Keep on doing what you are doing. This is Bubba's 3rd time on insulin and the same thing happened to me. I had him down to a drop and then he started going back up again. We are working our way down again. He developed some food allergies and got a yeast infection which may or may not contributed to him going back up. We are on the way back down again. I am not giving up hope. ;)

Try and get more test in during the PM cycle as a lot of cats go lower at night and then bounce back up for the AMPS. It will give you more data to help with dose changes.

As others have noted, some cats can go into remission quickly and others set a long distance record. It's often repeated that this is a marathon, not a sprint. It can be discouraging especially when you are doing your best to get your kitty into remission. Keep in mind that Vivaldi s more than the sum of his numbers. How's he acting? It's more important that you have a happy, purring, snuggly kitty regardless of the BG numbers.

First of all, I don't understand all of these abbreviations: OTJ, TR...??? Anyway, that's beside my point. At what point does a cat go into remission? Jerry has been completely off of insulin for an entire 9 days. I am cautiously optimistic at this point. He has gone up to 4 days without it before, but not this long so far. Thanks for any input!

With a reading under 40, I'd say definitely reduce. Yes 3 reductions in one week is unusual and sometimes don't stick but Vivaldi seems to be sending out a pretty clear message that he is on a mission.:)
