My sweet girl, Ginger, was diagnosed within the last month. She was started on 1 unit of Vetsulin every 12 hours. I’ve been testing her twice a day prior to feeding, but her results stay in the low 300’s to high 400’s. I just performed a 12 hour curve on her yesterday, and other than one result of 209, all others were high. The curve looked like a V. I did some research and found that Vetsulin is not very long lasting in cats due to their high metabolism. I’m wondering if anyone has had better luck with human insulin. She is now up to 4 units every 12 hours, and I’m to do another curve next week. She is 7.1 pounds and 4 units every 12 hours seems like a lot. Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.
