Lucky is my diabetic cat. She has been regulated just on food for the last year or more. She is doing great. She recently went into the vet for a checkup because of weight loss. Her diabetes is still controlled, but she how has Hyperthyroidism as well (my third cat with this), and she also had a LOT of tarter build up. The vet says she really needs to have a cleaning as soon as possible. Problem is she also has heart arrythmia. This was found at the last dental cleaning probably 2 years ago. Her gums turned pale and her lips turned blue while under sedation. She did come out of it though. She was then put on benazapril for it, and has been on that ever since. But another group recommended trying this Vetriscience Perio Support which will get rid of the tarter buildup so we can see if she does need dental work or if it's just a lot of tarter build up. This way she is not needlessly put under sedation where she might very well die. When she was diagnosed with the arrythmia, I did look into seeing a cardiologist, but it was way too expensive. I didn't have the money. So I just treated her heart with the medication.
But before I go and buy this stuff, I want to make sure that it's okay for her to take. She would need less than the dosage required on the labeling.
The ingredients are as follows:
Active Ingredients Per 2.5 g (approx. 1 Teaspoon): Natural Zeolites, 500 mg; Cranberry Extract, 25 mg; Yucca Schidigera Extract, 7 mg; Taurine, 1.25 mg; Zinc (as Zn Ascorbate), 0.8 mg; Lactobacillus Acidophilus, 5,500 CFU; Enterococcus Faecium, 5,500 CFU. Inactive Ingredients: anise oil, dried aspergillus niger fermentation extract, dried aspergillus oryzae fermentation extract, dried bacillus subtilis fermentation extract, dried lactobacillus casei fermentation product, dried lactobacillus fermentum fermentation product, dried lactobacillus plantarum fermentation product, dried whey, fenugreek seed extract, glucose monohydrate, sodium sulfate, vegetable fat, whey solids, yeast fermentation solubles. Administer during or after the animal has eaten to reduce incidence of gastrointestinal upset.
Thanks!
