Crazy stuff! LOL Good though, I guess. Thankfully, my bill wasn't as bad as I was expecting. Not with the 3 of them in there together, and all the things we were in for. Total was $365.. so ouch, but didn't take as big of a chunk out of my severance that I was afraid of! Misha was most of it! & I expected it.. dogs aren't cheap! (especially heartworm meds)

So anyway.. I'll cover each of them:

What a scaredy cat! I asked the vet if pits are the biggest babies that they treat.. and she said no, great danes are! LOL Seems like the bigger they are, the more of a baby they are. So anyway. She got all her shots, heart worm test, heartworm preventative. I skipped on the flea meds for now (or going w/ Revolution.. I know how expensive that is!) just because Phoenix isn't really a flea place at all. She said I could buy Frontline at Petsmart.. but not to buy any of the others there. (obviously) Said the Frontline is ok at Petsmart.. just more expensive than the others obviously. I almost forgot to ask, but lifted Misha's front legs, and asked if she thought she saw a rash, or anything weird going on with her skin. She said no.. looked like she may have had a rash at one time (remember me posting pics of her at my mom's house after a bath??) - but looked like it was gone, or nearly gone. She looked under her arms, and still kind of had a rash there.. so gave me 10 days worth of Cephalexin to give her. Said it may be a staph infection or something? This should just help her shake the last of it at least. She HAS been itchy. I just thought she was a dirty dog. So... on to Missy!

I did end up getting her vaccines today. She got the FVCRP I think it is? I said no on the rabies.. just because I couldn't remember which one was the better one to give or whatnot. Vet said it's not for health reasons.. just for legal reasons. None of my cats are biters.. so I opted to skip that. But I did get the FVCRP for her this time. She's about 1.5 yrs old.. so figured one more booster after her kitten shots, and will quit now. Is that what most people suggest? I believe that's what I did with Kami. Kitten shots, booster at 1.5 yrs old, and nothing since. SO... as for her dirty tail! The base (of the top) of her tail, down to the middle of her tail (not all the way to the tip) looked like it was dirty! It was VERY noticeably brown when you parted her long fur. Skin looked ok, but was afraid it was the same thing of whatever Kami has. You know what the vet said it is? STUD TAIL!!! LOL!!! Yes, my GIRL kitty has stud tail. *sigh* I'm just glad it's not anything serious, or anything medical! Very strange though.. even the vet said so. LOL (Read about stud tail here: http://www.cat-world.com.au/stud-tail-in-cats)

Kami was last since she was missing the most fur. The vet woods lamp'ed her, and nothing fluoresced. She took a really good look at her skin though.. flopped poor Kami all around on the exam table to see it from every angle. The spot where I thought was some kind of cyst.. is normal. LOL It's not the pad, but it's above the pad.. where some 'whiskers' grow out of. It was actually on her other arm too. Just because she had no fur, it stuck out more, and I noticed it. Whew! Plus, she had licked off those thick hairs that grow out of them too. So totally normal! Vet also thinks she does NOT have ringworm! Is pretty positive (especially from hearing from me about how Missy kind of terrorizes everyone) - that it's behavioral. She offered to do a skin scraping if I wanted her to.. but didn't think it was necessary.. pretty positive it's behavioral licking. I opted not to do the skin scraping.. but obviously if it gets worse.. then I can take her back to have that done. The fur does seem to be growing back.. just very slowly. Probably because she keeps licking at it, the more Missy misbehaves.
She did offer to give me some Valium for her. I took it, just to have it on hand.. but wanted to ask here if you guys think I should use it. She said to start off giving a full pill BID for 5-7 days.. then 1/2 a pill BID.. then down to 1/4 pill BID if I want. Says that should mellow her out, and by weaning her off it, more than likely it'll make her just 'not care' about what was bothering her. BUT.. because if it's Missy, and Missy's still here.. she might go right back to the same thing. So do you guys think I should try the valium thing, or just give it more time since her fur IS growing back.. and just keep an eye on her behavior. I can also try Feliway.. but not sure how much that'll help around here since Missy is just still acting like a kitten. Not sure if it'll make Kami care less about Missy chasing her around. (Maybe I should give one to Missy every so often to give everyone else a break!? lol)

OH! And nearly had a freakout about Misha too. Almost forgot. She's been getting skin tags on her body. One on her chest, and one little one on her chin. Kinda gross to me, but harmless. Well, I thought there was another one growing on her head! I was thinking, "great.. she's going to have this skin tag growing off the top of her head, looking gross!" Well, the vet looked at it, and thought it was some kind of cyst, instead of a skin tag. So I let her do a needle aspirate of it, and take a look at it. Thankfully it just looked like a regular cyst. (sebaceous?) So the few minutes it took her to look at the slide had me nearly freaking out that it could have been something else! Thankfully it's not though.

So THANKFULLY, all good news today. Only thing we need to work on is Missy beating on everyone! :YMSIGH:

Well, I tried combing it the night before the vet appt.. and the teeth of the comb just got dirty. I told the vet that, and she said I could just do that & see if it helps. Just combing through that fur can disperse the oils, and help get the dirt out. I'm gonna try that first.. I'd hate to shave Missy's huge, poofy tail.

eeeeewwwww stud tail - that's gross. never heard of it before or seen it....wow

and I thought Misha was a drooler, how could she be a scaredy cat!
