Hi there, I wonder if any members (@JanetNJ @Deb & Wink @Wendy&Neko ) could take a look at his spreadsheet and let me know what they think. Seems like he's not diving or bouncing as much and staying in the 200s most of the time. Is that good? Should I keep the dose the same for the time being or go up do you think ? He's been diabetic on Prozinc since September and had SRT for acromegaly almost 3 weeks ago. Would love your thoughts! thanks, Tillie
Do you ever retest with a BG meter? I've heard it recommended that you do that when you get lows with the Libre. I'm not really versed in the Prozinc dosing methods, but it does seem like his numbers could be a little lower overall. He's had plenty of time to get over any bounce from that 41, if that was accurate. The timing of when SRT takes effect really varies by cat. When reductions start appearing, they can be fast and furious, so it is a good idea to be cautious and I think you were right to reduce, just in case. How is the food transition going? I always like to keep that in consideration in case there are carb differences. Which LID duck are you feeding now? My goal with Neko and what I suggest for cats with acromegaly, is to try to get to a dose where they are spending most of their time under renal threshold. The actual renal threshold number varies by cat, but is typically somewhere low yellows to high blues. So that would mean getting to a dose where you see more blues than you are now.
Thank you, that's what I was thinking. I have checked a few times to compare the freestyle and it seems to run a little higher than the alphatrak I have but I will do more comparison testing. I have to figure out the impact of the new food. He's still transitioning to the Natural Balance LID duck. I think my vet would rather him stay on DM but I feel like maybe he needs a break from that. That is a good piece of the puzzle to consider. I don't think i'm seeing any effects from the SRT yet but he does seem slightly perkier lately, using his scratching post. I think I will probably go up tomorrow morning on the dose and see if he can't get back to more of the blues. Thank you!
Thanks @JanetNJ. Yes, I think so, and i need to find a good food for sensitive stomachs/IBD. I upped to 3.5 today but it seems he has only gone up, with no curve. Hope it wasn't a fur shot!
Oh, yes, just filled it in. I did notice some insulin on his fur tonight... which I'm not sure if that was from this morning or from shot tonight. Darn. It's hard to tell sometimes with such a small amount to inject, I think it goes right through to the other side sometimes.
@JanetNJ, thanks for that. I think I had better technique this morning and he was in the blues a lot of the day! Yay! Thanks so much. Best of all he seems more comfortable and happier lately.
