? Vacation.... reduce dose?

We're going on vacation for 2 nights, it was planned before diagnosis. We got a pet sitter to feed and give insulin, but she's not feeling like she can test. Should I reduce the dose to an even 2 units while I'm away? It will be 4 shots total. Thanks for any advice on how to deal with vacations.

When are you leaving?

We usually suggest reducing the dose a little a cycle or two before you leave to start draining the depot just a bit and then having the sitter do a reduced dose too since most cats don't eat as well as normal when their routine is disrupted and there's a stranger in the house.

We're leaving Saturday.... how much of a reduction is normal?

It depends on how low the current dose is taking the cat when you decide on a reduced dose. You could try reducing to 1.75 units. You should make a sample syringe with colored liquid in it for the sitter to compare it to.
