The last few days Shakes numbers are all over the place.
Could an UTI cause his numbers to go crazy.
I also noticied that he has not peed yet today and he always pees in the morning
In general any infection can potentially raise BG. My cat has dealt with a dental infection and a skin infecrion so far this year. Both seemed to raise his BG an average of fifty points. Once he was on antibiotics and the infection was resolved, his BG went back down.
The excess glucose in Diabetics (people or cats) makes them more likely to get UTI or kidney infections; the infection makes the BG unstable and it sometimes causes a frustrating cycle. I worked in a skilled nursing facility and I know UTIs are more frequent in our diabetic patients.
