My extra sweet boy suddenly acted like he couldn't pee very well this morning… So at lunch time I ran home to check and although I wasn't sure he was blocked I thought he might be partially blocked so I took him to the vet. He was not blocked but when they took a urine sample it had some blood and white blood cells. He got an injection of convenia and we were sent home. I happen to have some D mannose powder. Can anyone tell me whether this would be good to add to his food tonight? Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I ended up giving it on his food for about 10 days. I have no idea if it helped… But at least it didn't seem to hurt, and it also didn't seem to affect his blood glucose.

I have used D-Mannose for years--I have never had a bad experience with it …. even using in conjunction with AB. I personally love this product. I would not use the one with cranberry as it may have more sugar? (not sure ) I prefer plain D-Mannose.

Thanks jayla! I bought the pure D mannose from Now Foods. I had read it was good for prevention. How much do you give for that? I'm thinking 1/8 tsp on each meal?
I honestly just gauged by how often the cat would get UTI infections--if it not a regular thing that should work. If you notice any symptoms I would give more often…. I found the key is to get ahead of it--
For instance when I would notice the slightest symptom (drinking just a little more - cleaning privates more etc)
I don't know if you give SQ fluids but that helps to flush it out when enough has built up in the cat/human
I have used it for myself and knocked a UTI out in a day (guzzling water and lots of D Mannose LOL)
In our local rescue we add it to the water as the stress often causes UTI-
