HI I'm mom to Sandy a 16.5yr old newly diagnosed FD cat. I ran out of my Vet test strips yesterday and on the advise of my sister who has a FD cat got the Reli On Confirm meter and strips. Using this meter after adding 30 points (to comvert human to feline?) her reading prior to Lantus after eating at &pm last night was 162 and then at 2am (which I thought would be low point) her BG was 362. I tested again at 4am when I got up for the day and her BG was 407. I did a check on myself which was 86 (normal fasting reading for me) so the meter is running accurate. My question is how many points should I add to the reading to convert for feline numbers? I will be retesting at 7am hopefully it doesnt continue to go up from here ~O)

The vet meters tend to be about 30 points higher, but that depends on the range. I would just start using the ReliOn and using those numbers. Most of us use human meters.
The three times I compared my UltraTouch meter with my vet's meter using the same drop of blood, the reading were always within 7 points.

Thank You for your quick answer!! Just so I understand...do I add the 30 points to the meter reading or just go with the meter reading itself? I dont want to misunderstand and end up causing my baby girl more trouble than she already has.

Just go with the number on the meter you use.

In the lower numbers the two meters test very much the same numbers. As the numbers get higher and higher, then they start to differ around 30 points depending up how high up the numbers are.

I would just keep using the ReliOn as the strips are way cheaper.
