My Alpha Trak 2 meter just came up with the code PC and I can't get it off. I opted to not get the cable and do the data manager. I record them myself. I've looked on the website, and don't see how many readings the meter can take before you have to download. and do you have to download, or should I just take the battery out, will that wipe it.

Hi, although I own an Alphatrak I've actually only used it a few times (preferring my old One Touch Ultra...) so I have only little experience of how it works. However, I've just had a look at the user guide (pages 33 and 34) and it says...

Page 33: That code 'PC' appears on the display when you insert a data cable in the data port.... Remove this cable before performing a test.

Page 34: Memory log and previously stored user settings...are not affected by removing the battery.

Do you have a copy of the user guide?

No, one of the cats tore up the user's guide, guess they thought it was a toliet paper roll. The meter got just slightly wet this afternoon, although I didn't think enough for any to get inside.. I wonder if that has done it. My other electronics like this do dry out and start working again. I've put a strip in it and it doesn't seem to make a difference. I hate this, I'm going to have to go on faith that he's on his regular curve tonight and I can give his shot. But I won't know about tomorrow's first shot. I have a human meter, but only have one strip and have no idea how it compares to the Alpha Trak.

I checked before bed and it was working again. Took about 5 hours to dry out. Good to know!
