Zoey's had a good day today. She chased a bug last night with some serious ambition and focus and she's been a relaxed but vocally happy kitty all day. She's been on the Cushex now since yesterday a.m. so hopefully that is supporting all of those things that need supporting. It says it helps to regulate BG and she's been pretty good since she's been on it ... so we're pleasantly optimistic.

Now... vet news: The lab ran the wrong tests on the urine and we have to redo it. :banghead:

I asked the vet tech about Zoey being on the Cushex, (originally vet wanted me to wait and start Zoey on it AFTER the sample was obtained) and the vet said it won't matter, to go ahead and get it in the a.m. Also, the last time, I had gone over 24 hours without giving her SubQ fluids prior to that sample. Now, she's had 60 ml of fluids today, and 100ml yesterday after the sample. I don't know how much of that would affect the cortisol levels, if at all. This is all new territory for us. I gave her the last dose of Cushex Drops-S at 2:30 today and she's scheduled for another 3 drop dose at 11:30 tonight. I plan to not give those, just as a precaution. Will the cortisol still show up if her urine is diluted from the excess fluids? The Cushex is supposed to help with the cortisol levels so I'm kind of worried that it might taint the urine unless it's out of her system. How long does that take? Does anyone have any thoughts? On the sample we took yesterday, I was given a sterile, sealed container. Now the tech said I could use a clean glass jar. ....(sigh) Why is there always so much conflicting information?

ETA: yesterday

I don't really know, but it would make sense that the Cushex might change the urine enough to influence the test. It's supposed to do something in her body, right? So if it's working it would make sense that it's going to change the labs. I'd think she should be off of it, but I have no idea for what time period. You might ask the vet or call the lab and ask them directly. I'd probably want to ask the lab because they would know for certain what would affect it and what would be ok.

I agree....
and I'd ask the vet if I should wait one more day for the next urine test.... give it time to all clear out.... so it's all her.... no influences....

Are you under the influence?
