When I changed Gobby's litterbox this AM, I noticed that although there were a few moderately clumps of pee, the pee was not stuck to the bottom of the litter box like cement. That's good, right?
Thank you Carl~you're always there for us newbies!!! He is so up to his shenanigans today, but when I look at his SS, I am baffled. The +6's being higher than the PS the past few days just don't make sense based on his demeanor. I did increase his dose today (from 1.5 to 1.75 U.)....Carl & Bob said:Kat,
Every one of those "outward signs" look like very encouraging news! Excellent" whole cat report"![]()

Do they think he is bouncing, needs an increase, needs a decrease, is showing new dose wonkiness, or needs a different insulin? Some bouncing, I posed a question today re: high +6's but have not heard back. They left the increase (that I did just this AM) up to me, basically. Nothing about needing a new insulin.
What is the no shot limit you are using now? Maybe note in your spreadsheet what that is. I think you could drop it down to 180 this week; see what the Lantus users think. Well, my vet said "no shoot" when under 120 back on 11/24/12 when he first saw him and started his dose at 1.0 U. every 12 hours. On 1/7/13, when Gobby was increased to 1.5 U. my vet said "no shoot" when under 150. On 1/23/13 & 1/24/13 I shot late due to green AM numbers. I honestly haven't prepared myself for a new "no shoot" number, however, since I increased his dose just this morning, I agree that 180 would be an appropriate number, I think.?!?
Are you following the stall without feeding & retest method to determine if you shoot? It is described in the main Lantus forum. On the few days he was in green, I did follow the no feed/retest method. Should I get a number lower than 180, would you think it appropriate to do the same?
Are you consistent in the carb level you are feeding? Yes, he gets nothing more than 5% (FF, friskies, 9 lives, purina one)
Does Gobbles have any other problems, such as furballs, lack of appetitie, etc? If food intake goes down, so should glucose levels. No furballs, appetite good.
