Urine glucose level

Hi everyone, I have another question and I appreciate all the help I have got. I asked for a copy of Perkins urinalysis. His glucose level in his urine is 3+ 1000 mg/dl. The vet never said if that was ok, she just said he had a UTI, of course she knows he has diabetes but didn't mention the glucose. Does anyone know if this level is really bad?

It means that the blood glucose level was over the renal threshold in the hours before the urine was sampled.
This is common in diabetic cats that aren't well regulated or are ill (infection will often raise the glucose levels).

Glucose doesn't start spilling into the urine until the blood glucose is over renal thresh hold, estimated around 220-280. Cats without diabetes or in really good control shouldn't have glucose in their urine all.
When we had Anikan at the vet today, his urinalysis showed a glucose level of 50 mg/dl. Your number does seem significantly higher than that, but as you get Perkins diabetes more regulated it should come down.

ok, thanks
