(This is not regarding Gobbles!!!) I have a friend whose cat is in the ER ICU with a dangerously low body temperature. They have her in a heating blanket and are blowing warm air on her. He was told (in addition to FD) she has kidney failure. He wanted to know if there is some way (in addition to) to raise her body temperature? He is full of questions that I cannot answer and has posted on the FDMB FB group -- Nick Yelanich. I cannot find anything online, so thought I'd post here.

Kat....what are they telling your friend? being in the ICU they should have other alternatives......IDK, kidney failure.....I"ve heard warm saline drip but if she's failing saline would be (thinking of the word...brain freeze!)? Non-condusive? D/K... Sorry, just moral support for poor kitty, sending loads of((((( healing vines!!!!))))) & prayers! Cindy cat_pet_icon

The ER will know exactly what is needed to be done and I doubt they would take any advice from a lay person. Glad the cat is at the ER and hope she/he pulls through but if the body temp keeps going down the cat's body is shutting down.

I thought as much and I do think the ER is doing all that can be done. Her temp is only 90. I am praying for her, Nick, his GF and family.

There are heating discs as well which can be wrapped in a towel for the cat to lay on. Basically like a heating pad.

I am sure that the ER has these ... and will use them if necessary/appropriate.

Thinking good thoughts and sending hugs for your friend and the kitty.
