After paying $159 for the initial 10ml vial of ProZinc from my vet last week, I called Costco today to find out if they carry it locally. The member price is $106 plus tax (Knoxville, TN), about 33% less than getting it from my vet. Just wanted to share an updated price.
This group and the PZI protocol has been really helpful in getting my newly-diagnosed Gizmo quickly on the path to regulation. The vet started him on NPH, and after two days of BG curves at home (successful thanks to the advice on this board), I was able to quickly determine that this insulin was never going to work for us since the duration was so short (2-3 hours). It might have worked if I was able to give injections every 6 hours, but I have to work and am gone 8-10 hours daily during the week. So far, the ProZinc's duration is much longer (5-7 hours). Twice daily injections of 2.5 units are keeping him in the 50-225 zone for 6 hours on an all wet food, low carb diet. We're only 3 days on ProZinc, so still tweaking the dosage and timing, but am feeling very empowered and encouraged thanks to this group.
