Hello all,

It's been an interesting week. Some days Scout is in the blues with no shot and other days she's over 300. I think I may have found the culprit... tonight when I got home she was sitting on the desk next to the dry food bowl. I have NEVER seen her get up on the desk. She's not really a jumper... she can barely make it up onto the bed... so I figured the dry food was OK up there. But now I realize she's probably been sneaking up there from time to time. Its the Purina DM dry food but I understand it can still impact her numbers.

I guess this means I need to wean my civvie (pickiest cat ever) off the dry food too so I can have none in the house. That should be a challenge!

Umm...bad kitty! dancing_cat
You could put it in a plastic container. I kind of like your idea better to just get rid of it all together.

We had a picky and dry addicted civvie we had to wean off of dry food when our diabetic was DX'ed. I mixed chicken broth in with his wet food (instead of the usual water) and we put catnip or shrimp pieces on top for him. This helped get him off dry food in about a week. Many folks put fortiflora on the wet food for awhile too. http://www.amazon.com/Purina-Veterinary ... B002CM7BOC

That is the one benefit of being a one-cat family.
I just picked it all up and took it to the pound because she had been known to chew into the bags.
Funnily enough- when I started her on canned she refused to eat the dry during the transition time- didn't touch it at all. So packing it up made more sense.

At least you figured it out.

Oh what a stinker!
well out least you figured it out and hopefully now you can get some
consistent numbers!

I wish I could get a video of this... Nipper (civvie) is going berserk about the fact that she has no dry food. I think she thinks I'm an idiot and somehow forgot to put her food out. She meows her head off and performs all sorts of acrobatics every time I go near the kitchen.... it is awfully cute even though I feel bad about depriving her. (She ate half a little can of Blue Salmon flavor this morning so it's not as if she is starving.) Anyway Scout is 147 at PMPS so no shot for her tonight! Fingers crossed!!

Come on, sneaky little Scout...show momma bean some pretty numbers. :-D

My civvie wasn't too pleased when her scarf and barf dry was no longer available. It took her a couple of days to realize the former treat of wet was the real meal deal and started eating with gusto. Funny thing...no more scarf and barf! Dogs don't like that much but I can sure deal with it!

Welllll we're at +24 and she's 112. :) She was 174 two hours ago and then I fed her and it went down. Go Mr. P go! Please keep fingers and paws crossed...

Oh you guys it just got better!!! +34 since last insulin, she's 51! Yes 51. Lowest number she has ever had. She is RAVENOUS and just ate a quarter can of food and some tuna treats. Her little body's probably not used to 51. :)

Lmao! Curt did this last week, as you can see by his chart it spiked him to 400s for that day, when he was otherwise in the 100s. It was funny and cute, (I actually caught him in the act) but its amazing how that dry garbage really impacts their numbers.

Teresa my civvie is a barfer too so I'm hopeful the wet food will help there... if she eats it. She's being super annoying about it now, turning her nose up at what is basically fish in a can. Scout, on the other hand, has her appetite back for sure!
