Pooka was diagnosed in May 2019 and has been on Prozinc 1 unit twice a day and friskies pate. Last week I noticed she has not been finishing her dinner/breakfast or asking for snacks. Last Thursday night she did not finish her dinner and vomited late that evening yellow bile and plastic.

***Backstory***
Every since Pooka was a kitten she has had a fascination with plastic. I do not know why she eats it but she would eat plastic and would either pass or vomit it back up.

Anyways, She continued to vomit all Thursday even and into Friday morning. She did not want to eat and her blood sugar was 200 so I did not give her a shot. I took her to the vet Friday morning and he ran a complete blood test with liver and pancreas test and everything came back normal except for her blood sugar at 281 and her MCH was 19.4. The Vet told me the test was unremarkable and rub some Mirataz on her ear to stimulate an appetite and gave me a can of Hill's Prescription Diet a/d Canine/Feline. Friday afternoon until Saturday Morning Pooka continued to vomit and did not have an appetite. She was drinking a lot of water and peeing but not pooping. Vet called me to check in on Pooka and suggested I bring her in Saturday for fluids and anti-nausea medicine. At the vet Pooka received subcutaneous fluid, X-ray and a shot of Cerenia. The X-ray did not show anything abnormal except for A LOT of poop. Her large intestines was full of poop. The vet said he did not feel any hard poop during his physical exam and suggested getting food in her to help push out the poop. He sent me home with 16mg Cerenia and I am suppose to give Pooka a half pill per day starting Sunday morning.

The Cerenia shot worked Pooka did not vomit but she still has not had an appetite. After the Cerenia shot I noticed Pooka was kinda unsteady, groggy and vocal. She licked at water but not gulp it down like before. I decided to syringe feed her some canned pumpkin to get things moving, pepcid to help her tummy and a small amount of cat food and she kept it all down but no pooping. Vet called this morning to check on Pooka and said she is unsteady, groggy and vocal because she is weak from not eating. He said she was not a good candidate for an edema because the poop is not hard. He suggest I try Metamucil and to syringe feed her some more Hill's Prescription Diet a/d Canine/Feline and he is going to call back later today to check on her.

What is wrong with my Pooka? I cannot seem to put a hand on what is going on with her. She has had a lost of appetite before when she was constipated or has eaten plastic but nothing to this extreme. She is not acting like she in pain but she does seem to be uncomfortable. She is sleeping now. I am so worried.

***EDIT: this morning while writing this post she peed outside the litter box. She was sitting in the litter box but she missed the litter box.I don't think I put the top of the litter box on right so that could be the reason. IDK******

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

I think you need to see another vet. If she has not pooped then there may be an obstruction. That is why she is not eating. Both can be very dangerous for her. If you have any emergency vet near you I recommend you take her in today

Sorry, don't know what else to suggest. You have already met with your vet several times this past week.

The Mirataz you rubbed on her ear to stimulate an appetite (mirtazapine transdermal ointment) can cause side effects such as the vocalization you describe.

Thank you for your replies. Now she is yowling and I do not know what to do. Sadly, I am running out of money to take her to the vet.

I have not checked for ketones because I don't have any strips. Her kidney function was checked at the vet if that helps?

I did read that Mirtazapine can cause yowling but she only had one does on Friday. Also, as of the last few hours she is still yowling and She is sticking her face in the water and not drinking it. What could cause this behavior? I read an article that said she can be thirsty and nauseous at the same time.

Simba is a stuff eater too, mostly ribbons which I keep away from him, but once he ate plastic wrap too, vomitted it up and did not at all feel well from that. But never constipated.

Gustav however have had a lot of constipations and been in very discomfort every time. So the vet advice to give him Lactulos, and something called butt edema Microlax, and it has always helped.

So I figured all the yowling this morning was because the Cerenia was wearing off. I gave her a half tablet of a 16 mg Cerenia and 2 hours later she stop yowling and went to sleep. I managed to get some Hill's a/d mixed with water in a syringe at about noon. Her vet recommended Metamucil to help her go but I could not find the non flavored one so I gave her Miralax. I gave her 1/4 teaspoon at noon. Anyone know how long Miralax takes to work? I also managed to get some more Hills a/d in a syringe in her 30 minutes ago. She seems to be resting more peacefully now which I haven't seen in a few days.

The miralax could start working in 12-24 hours. 1/4teaspoon might be a bit much, so if you get some 'pudding poo' that is the likely reason why.

Pooka continued to not do well all week. I went to the vet again Tuesday and vet gave her an enema and lactulose. The enema and lactulose did work but Pooka did not improve. She lost 2 pounds in 4 days, no appetite (even with mirtazapine), she could not keep her balance and Wednesday she stop drinking water. She continued to be lethargic, her breathing became rapid so I took Pooka to the emergency vet to have her euthanized. I had to put my Pooka Wooka down. I am at a lost of words and pain. After 3 vet visits in one week and no definite answers to what was happening to her I decided to let her have peace. Her quality of life deteriorated so rapidly.

Hi I just happened to pop on and saw your post about your precious Pooka
I am so so sorry, my heart breaks for you. You were such a great momma to that beautiful girl and did everything you could for her. I would not want to see my kitty suffer any longer either. That was no quality of life for her. You gave her the gift of peace. Fly high sweet Pooka, and gentle hugs to you mamacat_wings>o:bighug:
