For those who knew his postings, he is close to dying now. We have stopped poking him for BG's. He has only days left. He is still eating but he is emaciated. Vet won't euthanize if he's still eating, I disagree. I know my cat. He lived 14 yrs with the last Year as a confirmed diabetic but my guess is he was diabetic at least 6mo prior to that but I simply didn't know. He's been trying to escape outside so I've had to seclude him in a spare bedroom. I don't want him to die outside in the cold. He's always been an indoor kitty. Thank you for your support on the message board. As a vet tech, I learned alot here.

Oh my goodness! I'm so sorry. Is there no other vet you can turn to that know that owners know best? This must be excruciating for you. I'm so so sorry. You are in our thoughts tonight.

I'm so sorry, I wish we could have been of more help.

I will keep you both in my heart tonight and send healing and comforting prayers to you both.

I am so very sorry to hear this. Having recently lost Squamee (who I had euthanized) I really understand how you are feeling. I am outraged at your vet. It is such an excruciating decision to make and to be told you are premature, when truly, you know best, is just plain cruel. Even though my cat had stopped eating and was just spending hours standing over her water bowl without drinking, my vet delayed my decision by 2 days--giving me appetite stimulants to give her, and telling me to syringe feed her, even though it had long proved impossible to pill her, and it was horrible. Your vet should be commending you for your dedication in taking care of your cat and wanting to relieve his suffering. I hope these next few days pass quickly and he can be allowed the release you want to give him from his suffering. I wish you strength.

I am very sorry about your kitty.
I hope he will soon be free and at peace at Rainbow Bridge.
I know it still hurts to lose him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so very sorry about your kitty. I know how difficult it is to know in your heart that it is his time to move on. I've had to face this with my dogs, my mother and my father and will soon face it with my dog, Chloe (an Bud my diabetic kitty one day).

Please call around for a vet that will honor your decision. If you cannot find a vet you can take him to, there are vets that will come to your home. Call all the vets in your area to get names of vets that will come to the house.

I so sorry.
