Here is the latest on Rocky's health:
Rocky had been at the vets few days ago to investigate his kidney/urinary problems and had a blood test, urine test including culture, blood pressure test and abdominal scan. He has been very good and did not fight the vet!
I was very pleased about his behaviour although I know he must have been scared and stressed. I stayed with him for blood pressure check (they'd done many readings) to keep him calmer and his reading was good - I think about 150 and it was assumed that it would have been 20-30 points lower if not taken at the vet's. Urine was free of infection and inflammation, spec gravity was a little off (urine not very well concentrated) but other parameters were normal and urea and creatinine in blood dropped from the previous test when he had E-coli infection.
A scan did not reveal any abnormalities either.
The reason I put him through this was that we needed to check if his UTI cleared after long course of antibiotics and to check his kidney function. He still is not 100 percent as I think he drinks a little too much water and keeps licking his tummy and thighs.
Our vet thinks that he might have a slight kidney problem (CKD) but it is expected at his age and if it is it would be in very early stages.
Rocky's diabetes seems to be very well regulated. I have tried to stop insulin for few days as he dropped low after the vet's visit but it was clear that he still needs a small dose. But his numbers are dropping lower and tonight his BG was 5.4! I decided to give him a very small dose of insulin as I will test him at +3 and will give him some more food as he wants to eat. So things are looking quite good at the moment. At least for Rocky!
I'm spending a lot of time in bed (I'm ill) so Rocky cuddles up to me and we keep each other warm!

I am glad that Rocky is doing better and all the tests have not found any major problems. I had one of my 16 year olds in to the vet last week and there is some deterioration with kidney function, but as the vet said, even without the diabetes and Cushing's it is not unusual for senior kitties to have less than perfect lab results. As long as Rocky is feeling good, if you need to give a small dose of insulin occasionally then that is just what Rocky needs. His numbers are wonderful and if he needs a little help from time to time, that is fine.

Please do take care of yourself and try to feel better. Make sure you take as good a care of yourself as you do with your Rocky.
