Update on Morgan the Pirate Gato

It's been a while since I've been here - and the funny thing is - one of Morgan's Beds customers reminded me I haven't been here in a while.

Morgan went through the rough times in May - we were using up all the PZI I had bought before it totally disappeared. He wasn't eating very well - and the Doc was stumped as is normal with Morgie. We ended up doing a Sonogram - again no real answers. He did end up with dental work - and lost 4 teeth.

We switched his food to a combination of Fancy Feast and ProPlan - he now only likes the classic styles. About 6 weeks ago we switched him to ProZinc - and e had a major scare. He was dropped off for his weekly blood sugar - and was at 101 in the morning - down to like 49 at lunch time. He got a Dextrose drip, and no shot that night. The Doc dropped his dose down to 1 unit twice a day. He was then running high - so he got bumped to 2 and 2.

He's a lot friskier, and eating better again. He'll get checked again this week.

He just turned 5 in September - a miracle in itself!

Love the new website! Very nice!

Donna,

It's so good to 'see' you posting. I've been thinking about you, and all of your furries.

I can't recall from the old board, but is there a reason you don't hometest?

Are you still making the beds? My cats really loved them.

Did you post pictures a while back of kitties in their beds, and there was one dog who tried to take over the kitty bed, but could only 1/2 fit in? That was HILARIOUS. Not sure if that was you, or do we have more than one bean who makes beds?

Was 2u the dose where you got scary #s? If so, you might want to try something in between, maybe 1.5 or 1.8. A lot of times it seems like shaving just a teensy bit off the dose gets the #s where you want them. 1u dose changes often seem to have dramatic results in either direction.

I know I haven't posted in ages - never enough time to do everything?

Morgan's Doc has a system of testing at certain times - and it's always worked well - so we've never needed to test him. We do have everything in case of an emergency though.

The 3 unit dose was the issue - and my thoughts are that the PZI Vet although still good - had lost it's potency. The new ProZinc is more like the original PZI - and Morgan seems to be doing great on it.

LOL that was me who posted the dog in the cat bed! I get some really funny pictures some people. We now have an on-line store at Etsy.com called Morgans Beds - and happily the beds are MUCH better than the originals. Some of them were really funny! I finally figured out with lots of practice new sizes, and added in things for the pocket pets.
