Well after 4 days with diarrhea and not eating Gus' doctor finally gave him fortiflora. He has improved greatly and the diarrhea has stopped. Thank god the poor boy. He's been eating a little more yesterday and today so in pleased. We started the methylcobalamin yesterday. Since I'm rarely at a regular computer-here are Gus numbers since Sunday. I'd appreciate any thoughts or feedback. Sun 5:45 118. 7:36 127. Now the numbers will be AM/PM. 85/92, 103/109, 98/101, 92/98, 80/75, 85 at 10:13 last night. And this morning 5-17 he's at 79. Thanks all!!

No insulin, right? Is all the dry food gone?

Those are beautiful non diabetic numbers. Our gauge is 2 weeks of numbers under 120, off insulin. Then we have a remission Party!

Crazy thing is after the hypo on Saturday and the morning shot at the doctors Sunday he hasn't had a shot!!!!! The last shot I gave him was the .3 units Saturday morning that put him into hypo! I'm so hoping he's getting better!

The thing is, I wonder if there's harm in not giving him the insulin? The doctor said he should be getting the 2 units twice a day but clearly with testing his bs is being controlled. This has me questioning my vet...

I agree. I'm getting an appointment for Gus with a vet specifically for cats for a second opinion. I want to know what the heck is going on! Thank you

Spoke to someone at the cat specific vets office. She mentioned transient diabetes and told me to keep testing Gus bs daily. She is conservative with insulin and said she wouldn't shoot under 250 even. She also was quite distressed that Gus regular doctor would advise giving Gus 2u of insulin 2x a day even when he had diarrhea! So I feel better knowing my gut instincts were correct! I'm sooooo thankful for all the help and support you guys have given! Gus hasn't gone under 78 and not over 103 the past few days. He's got his appetite back (eating wellness and evo) and no diarrhea. It will be 2 weeks with out insulin Sunday and we're making an appointment for our new vet. Fingers crossed!
