Hiya All

I posted this to my previous thread, but jayla pointed out to me that it might be better to start a new one. Thanks, jayla! :kiss:

>>> Just did Dottie's BG at 10:00pm and it was 265. No insulin given at doctor's request, since 2pm the evening before...and she crashed early this morning at 7am. When I called him about the crash he said this that he wants her to 'rest' for 24 hours without insulin.

She's hungry now. BG at 265, no insulin for at least another 16 hours...(hoping she'll get back on a smaller dose of PZI tomorrow), and currently she is Looking for food. Can I give her a tiny piece of lean fish? Not allowed insulin until 2pm tomorrow, on his orders. Will that sugar go down if I feed her lean meat only? She is LOOKING FOR FOOD.

Oh and...I can't find the manufacturer of her CVS pharmacy meter anywhere...CVS is being secretive about it. I do know that when making generics, the manufacturer frequently uses the same molds for casting casings, etc..so I'm putting a link in here. Anyone recognise this meter under a brand name, prolly with a few additions? I'm so new at this that the meters all look alike to me.

Oh! Wherever did you find this? That name looks familiar, OH...shoot. The manufacturer's name was right in front of me all the time. Yesterday when I went to the pharmacy, to get control solution to check the meter, (it wasn't included in the 'kit')...he didn't have any in stock, and gave me the manufacturer's name so I could call them with any more questions because he only knows a little about the meter. He is going to order the control solution for me.

Oh, I ordered a baby/pet scale from Amazon. Our human scale lies like a rug, LOL! Seems like there's a lot of leeway on precision..but then, fluctuations in whatever I'm wearing isn't life or death to me. I need to put some weight on my little girl and she's not going to gain a pound at a time.

I ordered this scale. Anyone else have it? I should have asked before sending for it. Weight goes up to 44 pounds so if I ever find myself the owner of a bobcat, I'll be prepared, HAHA!

That's the exact same scale I bought for China!!....I asked for opinions first and lots of people recommended it so you did good!

We have the opposite problem...China's gotten a little uh....."too fluffy"...but when we first started the sugardance, she looked like a walking cat skeleton

@Jeanne Skadowski -

I've got a scales very similar to that, and it's been such an asset. Wish I had bought one years ago.

It's helpful to start keeping a log of how much food you give Dottie each day (inc. calories fed). As well as helping to get Dottie back up to her 'fighting weight' right now, getting a handle on how many calories she needs as you go along will aid you in maintaining Dottie at her ideal weight going forward.

Here's a useful body condition chart to help you monitor Dottie's progress.

Oh good! Not good that China's gotten fluffy, but good that you like the scale :joyful: You can keep track of what she loses.

Yes, Dottie is only a shadow of her former self. If I don't get some weight on her soon she might have some real nutrient issues lurking.

When a kitty is underweight I think the general approach is to let it eat what it needs while it is getting regulated and keep an eye on insulin requirements. How is Dottie's appetite, Jeanne?

Agramatix looks to be the same one as my Onsync which is made for Target, Meijer and Kroger. I've seen that it is pretty good on here.

I have a similar scale, I also looked up baby scale amazon after pet scale's returned more expensive options. Thankfully Fern has put some weight back on.
