We just got home from the vet. Not good news.
They said that his blood sugar was extremely high (455 on a cat meter) and that he had a fever. They also told me that they suspect that he has a tumor and that it might be cancerous. Of course Alphie isn't a candidate for surgery to remove it. They made it seem like all of this was a death sentence. I don't know how I'm going to make it without him. I can't stop crying.

First, HUGS AND HUGS and more.

Now deeeeep breath. If they didn't do xrays or ultrasound, they don't know if there's a tumor or not. With the fever, he has an infection somewhere. That will cause high numbers. Feeling really bad will cause high numbers. Traveling to and being at the awful vet will cause high numbers. All rolled together, that 455 is to be expected. How about your brain taking just one step at a time - let's get that infection cleared up with antibiotics first. That will bring those numbers down in itself. If he isn't eating enough then syringe feed - that's not big deal so now you would have food in him too. He's got to have enough food for his body to convert it to energy. All this will make him feel a lot better.

More hugs and hugs....

Sending more prayers and vines, hoping the vet is wrong (they frequently are!) and Alphie doesn't have a tumor. Get the fever and the bg down, and go from there. As Lyresa said, make sure you get enough food in him, too. I know it's scary, but try to keep the positive thought. Remember, too, that when you're frightened and worried, he can sense it, and that will make him frightened and worried, too. (((Hugs)))
