Talked to doc he said discontinue thyroid meds, check for dehydration if dehydrated come by get sub q fluids, they didn’t think it was an emergency, but he said if it continues to bring her in, I also contacted Purina and I’m sending in what I found in food they will test to see what it is, also I have to send in UPC code they will reimburse me for the food. She said they would check on food by all the numbers on bottom of can and check into, the situation. So still don’t know why she is sick but hopefully she is better, thanks all

You've done what you can for now. Any discussion of resuming thyroid meds at a lower dose?

They said give it 5 days see how she does, said probably will lower when we restart, they just called me back and said they close at 2 for me to come by and get fluids in case I need them
Have you ever given fluids to a kitty before? I'm glad they're saying take a break from the meds and restart at a lower dose. That's a common problem for hyerT kitties to have and she does need treatment for it because it's hard on the kitty's body.

1x but it’s been along time ago, I told them I could handle it

I came home she was covered behind wise with yuk, just laying around, I cleaned her up and tried to get her to eat, she would not, I ran to store picked fancy feast broth, would not eat licked a little, gave her 100u sub q fluids and made her a nice soft bed, she will walk but is def not her happy happy I’m talking super happy self, she drink some water

I’m super worried, Kris I actually expected her to not have been here when I got home, I was so screwed up going to doc, my doc thinking about her I got lost and had to pull over and google map it, unreal, I pray and pray she will be ok

Bellasmom, Have you had time to read the info i sent? Has your Vet suggested a Transdermal Gel patch for Abby? It's better tolerated than the meds

The blood may just be from all the irritation she’s had back there.:bighug:
I was just reading that, I was worried
She is resting with her blanket by me, gonna offer more broth later
Should I give more sub q fluids in the am?

I put more broth out and she is licking it, broth probably isn’t the best maybe or maybe not with the diarrhea, never had this problem with any of my cats, boy the thyroid meds have reeked havoc on her little body

Has she absorbed the 100? I’ve only given subQ’s a couple times and it was years ago. I would think that amount would be fine, but Kris can probably give you better info on that.
Do you have baby food? Also Tiki Cat Velvet has the consistency of baby food, so it’s good to keep around (LC so Bella could have some too if you wanted). Walmart has pouches of lickable foods that I’ve used for sick kitties too.

I always keep a few jars around because it’s easy to syringe if any kitty doesn’t want to eat. I have gerber, I think, but will look for the one you mentioned Joy.

Yes to feeding plain baby food watered down and by syringe if necessary. I don't have experience with subQ fluids myself but have read here often that if kitty has cardiac issues it needs to be done very, very carefully. This probably doesn't apply to Abby. I think the main things for Abby are getting her hydrated with broth or syringe fed watered down baby food. Not eating for more than 24 hours can be a problem. The blood in her poop is probably from irritation.

She just ate some fancy feast can cat food so if she continues to eat and drink more I will prob pass on more fluids in the am, what do you think @Kris & Teasel

I'm glad she's eating. Add water to the canned food if she'll accept that. Give her more broth. You can check her hydration level by pulling up on her scruff. If it springs back into place quickly that shows good hydration. If dehydrated the scruff skin will be slow to flatten again. If her gums feel sticky or dry-ish that's a sign of dehydration. If those tests show good hydration I would bother with subQ,

She’s eating more now with extra water, I’m sure she is hungry and worn out

Bellasmom, So happy Abby's better.

I give Ravan & Peggy Sue Ringer's every evening 100cc. The electrolytes & fluid seem to make them feel better. This evening Peggy Sue surprised me ! She was waiting on my bed for her Ringers!

Abby slowly seems to be doing better, she ate her broth and some ff with extra water, I didn’t give fluids this am as she was drinking and eating (great sign) and no poopy butt:) so I feel a lot better leaving her today when I go to work.
Thanks for all the support yesterday and I thought I would loose her :bighug::bighug::bighug:
