We migrated to the Lantus Tight Regulation board. I don't know how many hang out there so I thought I would post an update for those of you who were keeping up with him earlier in this process.

We have had a few ups and downs, pun intended, but he is seeing continual progress. He hasn't been HI >600 since we switched him. He still has a long way to go to get back from where he was. He is still a little dehydrated and needs to gain weight. When we started caring for him, he was on his deathbed though. He had been losing hair (?) and his ears were bald. He is getting fluffy and he has fur on his ears now. lol. He is a totally different cat, in personality, than he was last week. Instead of being that meek, humble, sick, kitty, he is happy, active, and animated. His eyes are bright and he is giving himself baths several times a day. He does not act like he is starving all the time, he isn't hovering over the water bowl, and his box isn't saturated in the morning. We still need to bring those numbers down, but wow... Frank has done a 180. The suggestion was to put him down, and I understand why. He was really bad off. I am glad we didn't though.

I can't thank everyone here enough for sticking with us during these beginning times and guiding us through the rough patches. Frank and I are both doing better, and really, if I had not found this board, I probably would have had him put down last week, thinking he was not only going to get worse, but he was suffering. Give yourselves a big pat on the back. What you guys do here has immeasurable value. So... thank you, from Frank and Frank's family.

I have been following Frank`s story. Bless you for taking him in and taking care of him. I hope he continues to improve on his insulin. I would love to see a picture of him.

Love to hear success stories! So glad Frank is doing better and you are feeling confident about this whole process.

If you want to pay it forward some day, find a post on Health from a kitty parent who wonders if the dance will be too hard and is debating whether to attempt it or not. You can share your story with them and make a difference.

Thanks for the update - I post there every day or so myself. And feel free to pop back here if you need to - although the guys over there are really good!

So glad to read about another success story. It's so heartening to read that Frank and his family made the decision to see if he could be saved.

Good luck in your journey. Remember, Frank is taking the lead in this new sugardance, and you and we are just following along and trying to help him to feel the best he can.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}} for the great job you have done so far. Wishing you all the best and hoping that Frank starts to show some more of his pre-diagnosis happy purry self soon.

Terri - I finally managed to get a photo of Frank. He is such a dirty looking cat. He was a stray and, believe it or not, was dirtier. He looks a lot better than he did a few weeks ago.

I brought one in from outside around Memorial Day, he has white feet and it took along time for him to clean up. Frank is a handsome boy. Very cute picture of him.
