The Bff Tip Toe chicken and turkey. In a pouch

The Bff Play Take a Chance Duck and Turkey 5.5 ounce can

The Bff Play Topsy Turvy Chicken and Turkey 5.5 ounce can

I would also add the binder in these

I always forgrt if you go by the as fed or dry matter basis

Just have someone take a look at it.

So glad to read that Moo Moo's been eating and drinking better, Sydney, and purring a little too!

(((Sydney and Moo Moo)))

I'm going to tag @JanetNJ to ask her to pass on her recommendations for low phosphorus foods.

I think Dr. G really just didn't have a chance to look at Moo Moo's paperwork, and Dr. B had come in today, on his off day, to care for her. They stay very busy at my vet's office. While it's frustrating, I still think she's at the best place for her right now, and I think now they're both in the loop and will work together on this to provide the best care for Moo Moo. I just wish they would've both been in the loop from the beginning

She is eating and drinking a lot more than she has since Saturday, so they are probably right about her wanting to eat more with the abscess drained. Or, it could be that she got another IV today. Either way it goes, I'm just glad she's eating.

I am overnighting some of the Thriving Pets aluminum hydroxide. It said it would ask for a script at checkout, but then at checkout the prescription part basically said non-applicable. I also ordered the blood ketone meter and some extra test strips. I ordered some low phosphorus low carb food that should arrive next week, in the meantime I am going to try to find some low phosphorus foods, even if they are higher in carbs (since even at the bet her sugar was in the 160's)
My cat has ckd too... These are the low phosphorus foods we feed.

Weruva slide and serve pate foods Family Food (.97 phosphorus and 0 carb). Also Jeopurrdy Chicken (0.97 P 6.1 carb)

What a Crock 0.71 phosphorus and 8 carb lots of gravy so she loves it.

Goody stew shoes 0.71 phosphorus, 8.5 carb. This one is a big hit

Weruva Steak Frites (0.57 phosphorus 5.5 carb although I take out any big pieces of potatoes to try to limit the carbs just a bit)

Weruva LA isla Bonita - phosphorus 0.77 carb 4.5 (used to like, not a favorite anymore)
Glam and punk 1% carb, 0.93 phosphorous.

Weruva paw lickin chicken 3.3 carb 0.82 p and
Press your lunch 5.9 carb. 0.82 phosphorous

Bff play Laugh Out Loud chicken and lamb 7.7 carb, 0.82 phosphorous

BFF play destiny (chicken and duck) 0.87 phosphorus 7.7 carb

Bff play chicken cherish 0.71 phosphorus 7.6 carb

Bff play best buds chicken and beef 7.9 carb 0.9 phosphorus

Bff play chicken Checkmate. 7.7 carb 0.7 phos

New favorite On the Cat Wok 3.8 carb 0.74 phos

A word of caution with the binder is it often causes constipation, so have pumpkin or Miralax on hand.

I do sub q's at home (about every 3 days.... You would probably need to do them daily at this point). Makes them more hydrated and comfortable. In addition I give vitamin b 12 and a b complex as they tend to get washed out with all the extra fluids.... It should keep anemia from developing. So sorry you are going through this. There is a good CKD group on Facebook called Cats with Chronic Renal Failure.

Moo Moo pooped last night, and ate and drank through the night! That feels like a huge win. I'm at work, but have my security camera set up like a baby monitor on her so I know when she eats and drinks (I might be a little paranoid rn haha). Her sugar was still low this morning, so she didn't get an insulin shot. She is letting me put antibiotic ointment on her stitches where the pus was drained, and seems to be in generally better spirits

I like this update very much, Sydney. :cat:

I'm also really glad you're able to monitor her from work; a loving thing to do, not a paranoid one. :) It must be so hard to be away from her.

Hi Sydney that's great news , I joined Tanya's Kidney group , they advised me to give Jarrows B-Right Vitamins , along with Methyl B-12 .
I will post the links below

Now with the Jarrows they told me to open the capsule and divide it into 10 doses.
You don't have to do it that way, they told me to buy the set of mini stainless steel
spoons and use the one that says DROP on it. You give it once a day , mix it in the
wet food with the Methyl B-12 .
I will give you the links for these.
Check out Tanya's site

It's funny I bought those exact spoons a few weeks ago. HaHa
What took so long, Janet? ;) (Joking!)

Another big recommend from here for the mini spoons. They're brilliant yokes. Helpful for measuring moggie-sized amounts of all manner of things.

I actually got them as a stocking stuffer for my partner that likes to cook. Lol. I was giving liquid b complex (along with1/4 of a zobaline) but I think she's getting sick of the flavor.

I was giving liquid b complex
I'd be very grateful if you could tell me which liquid B complex you're using, Janet, and also at what dose. I'm using a similar product myself but I'm not sure whether I'm giving the Noodle an adequate dose of the stuff. It would be so helpful to have a similar product to compare it with and to get a bit of a steer on how much to give.

I have this one and follow dosing on the bottle. Rx Vitamins for Pets Amino B-Plex for Dogs & Cats - Healthy Nutrients Enhance Energy Metabolism & Vitality - Bacon Flavor 4 fl. oz. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003PQYLI8/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

@Critter Mom She's doing okay, she's sitting here with me now. She hasn't tried to make it to the litterbox today, and has just peed on the floor when she's needed to go. I'm assuming that will stop when she gets stronger, but I honestly have no idea. She's moving around enough she could get there if she wanted to. She could also be revenge peeing because of having to go to the vet so many times, she has revenge-peed before

Hi Sydney,

Glad to hear you're back home with your girl, and that she's doing OK. :)

she has revenge-peed before
Sometimes if I don't get to the litter box to remove the previous clump before the Noodle wants to go again, she has been known to do the occasional 'protest pee'.

Does she tend to do it in the same spot(s)? (Wondering whether judiciously placed pee pads would help any with clean-up.)

Wishing you both a grand night and sending prayers for Moo Moo's continuing, and hopefully speedy, recovery.

It just started today, so it's hard to say. Before it was in one specific place in my room, but now it's moved to the living room and I don't know if it'll be in the same spot each time. Tuesday night, she did fall down while trying to get out of the litterbox (it hurt my heart) so she might be a little weary of it now even though she's way less weak than she was. I think it's something I can figure out though after she feels a lot better though. It might just be I will have to get a litterbox with a shorter step-in area (like not as tall, if that makes sense).

Thank you so much for being here for Moo Moo and I. I don't know if I can ever express how much of a blessing you and the rest of this forum have been. I felt like I was drowning and everyone helped so I could tread water and figure out what needed to be done with Moo Moo.

I am taking her back for more bloodwork tomorrow, and I will post her results. Dr. B and Dr. G seem really encouraged by the update I gave them, and so do I. I will update my signature after we establish what stage of CKD she is in, etc.

All I can share is my personal experience with CRF, my first kitty was late stage at diagnosis, and had weakness both from low potassium and high phosphorus. My second was under control until she wasn't. I kept extra litter boxes nearby, in places they could reach so they didn't have to go far, and had easy access. It may be that you need to find one with lower edges, the step up and in becomes cumbersome when they are weak. The high phosphorus really makes them feel awful, think your worst hangover, and triple or quadruple it. Hoping for the best possible results tomorrow, and continued improvement. A favour to ask, could you please start a new post tomorrow with your updates? This one is getting a wee bit long :)

I just recently watched the Last Holiday (again) since I love that movie, with Queen Latifa, and it always makes me giggle when she says to the stewardess, "a lot of people have been calling me ma'am lately and I'm barely older than they are" :D
