When BF and I first wondered whether Tommy was diabetic I went into panic mode not just because the thought of him being ill, but because he HATES VISITING THE VET (sorry don't mean to shout) and I knew that we would have to go often to have him seen and tested. I also was very fearful of the home testing and giving him the injections and how he would react. So far with the glucose testing he has been fine and tomorrow we will start on Lantus and I also believe he and I will be OK.
Well to make a long story short, my Tommy was hell on wheels today at the vet. He nearly busted the door to his pet carrier and scratched his vet. He is a very large and strong boy! He was so angry and generally nasty that I really didn't get a chance to even give him a test shot. The vet showed us twice and left it at that because there was just no way for us to do more. I'll be watching youtube videos tonight on how to give the injections.
Of course, we are now home and by looking at him you would never know that he wanted to shred the vet and everyone there to pieces. He is back to being the sweet affectionate boy we know.
I am praying this gets better....Mimi
