Carl is...being Carl.he was doing ok then he got "bad" food. He stopped eating for a few days and when he resumed eating he refused all forms of formerly favorite food and only ate Dr Elseys clean protein. He usually doesn't want much to do with that. But he was eating, although he was drinking oceans of water!
Normally 6-8oz in a 24 hour period, he was drinking 40oz! I did get a couple good samples for ketones and none were detected.
Gradually he resumed eating FF pate senior+ but not as much as before. Then he decides he liked cooked chicken again.
I get chicken that has no injected broths or sugars and remove the fat and skin before cooking.
In between illness and trying to work too many hours, I wasn't able to get too many in between shots and I did have a helper with his care. I am home for the next two days and hope to do a real curve for a change!
But I think I raised Carl's insulin too fast and maybe that's why he's spiking high in the mornings?
If I can get him in the 200s and stay there, that seems to be a number where he does the best.
He's now eating almost normally. Only one can of Fancy feast instead of two, and Dr Elseys. About quarter cup of cooked chicken split between the two meals. He looks and acts healthy.
I bought him a new cat tree and he really loves it. Since he's kept in an enclosure now because escape can be deadly, he seems happier and less stressed. Maybe he had too much room before.

Lantus 2.5U is current dose. I shoot in the flanks.
Thanks in advance!
